Signs in the U.S. continue to point to a rise in Covid activity as fall approaches.
Hospitalizations are rising. Deaths have ticked up. Wastewater samples are picking up the virus, as are labs across the country.
“Every single one of those things is showing us that we have increased rates of Covid transmission in our communities,” said Jodie Guest, a professor of epidemiology at Emory University’s Rollins School of Public Health in Atlanta.
Yep. Time to be more careful again, folks. And for fuck’s sake, if you’re not already vaccinated, go do it.
💀
To be clear, the vaccines that are more protective against the dominant variant at the moment isn’t it yet, but prior shots should reduce symptoms and potentially viral load.
Would it be worth going and getting one of the old boosters just to re-up if the old one was over 6 months ago? Or would it be better to just kind of wait for the next one?
My wife and I are traveling internationally end of next month, so I asked my doctor. He recommended waiting for the new booster which should be available in about a week. He also suggested a flu shot at the same time.
Our last boosters were about a year ago.
For what?
I just tested positive for the first time and thanks to the US FDA rule changes, I have to physically go to the doctor to get Paxlovid, putting more people at risk. Very frustrating.

They did not. Though I was the only one there so not really a problem though the admins were pretty slapdash with their masks. Smh.
It’s almost like it’s flu season…
Ripping through my group rn, myself included. This new brew seems to come up quicker, but so far more mild. Here’s hoping it goes as quick as it came. I was definitely eager to catch the new shot when it dropped but lol got the early access
My partner works at a school and over 10% of their teachers tested positive for COVID this week. It’s gonna be a rough Fall.
I was the only one in my subway car with a mask on this morning. It’s going to spread like wild fire again. Hopefully there will be less hospitalizations.
It’s a milder strain, but that’s no relief for the immunocompromised and elderly. It’s all over airports with people coughing, and will tear through schools now.
My entire company got COVID over the last 3 weeks. I was the first person to get it.
