I’d be very interested to see how many of them ate paint chips as a kid, or were exposed to lead in their drinking water.

A third of our country should be this ridiculously knuckleheaded, but here we are.

The irony of calling out a failed liberal city when nearly every conservative state on average ranks lower than pretty much every liberal state in nearly every demographic that matters: education, life expectancy, salary, economy, healthcare, infant mortality, and crime rates.

Yeah, Democrats are totes the problem. Gotcha lol.

Crime stats depend on people reporting crimes. Something that is actively discouraged in blue states. You don’t need a six figure salary when the cost of living is low. California has the 5th highest infant mortality rate in th country. Not everyone needs to pay a few years wages to a paper mill for a diploma they’ll never use in their trade. California, Texas, New York and Florida have the four largest economies in the US. This hardly follows party lines.

Alright, starting your argument with conservative hearsay, something that’s not even remotely true. Bold choice.

California has the 5th highest infant mortality rate in th country.

Cool. My argument still stands that on AVERAGE red states perform worse on just about every metric. So, not sure what you’re trying to argue for.

Not everyone needs to pay a few years wages to a paper mill for a diploma they’ll never use in their trade.

Alright. Something that we can agree with. However it is interesting to note that states with higher degree counts have higher average salaries, so a degree isn’t a bad thing depending on what it’s in.

California, Texas, New York and Florida have the four largest economies in the US. This hardly follows party lines.

Of the top 10 states based on GDP, 7 are Democrat-controlled. It’s also worth noting that Democrat-controlled counties make up 70% of the total GDP in the entire US. It absolutely follows party lines a lot more than you think.

I live in Minneapolis bud. You will be actively shouted down for even mentioning that you considered reporting a crime because “the police might shoot them”. Additionally, all property crimes here must now be reported to 311 (not the police) which is purely to get you a case number for insurance. They don’t pursue them.

As for GDP, yeah man, urban areas are blue. It’s not because they’re better, it’s because poor people congregate there for public services.

The mere fact that you can use the wrong set of lights, which probably also says UV somewhere on the box, is a good reason.

Has anyone from Vox has ever… Been outside before?

Here’s are some fun UV facts:
Too much ultraviolet radiation (UV) from sunlight is dangerous.
Nearly half of UV radiation is received between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., when the sun’s rays are the strongest.
Even on a cloudy day, you can be sunburned by UV radiation.

Theres a new thing where you distinguish different kinds of UV radiation, apparently some are not that dangerous to humans but would still be effective against bacteria.

However I cannot say if its legit or not since I didn’t read much around it just saying this for awareness.

Every hospital I’ve been to has these lamps in various places in the hallways like on the way into the ICU. Stop your ignorant fear mongering.

“Oh, I skimmed the video, but I don’t trust science, so I’m going to question the intelligence of everyone involved with this website because I don’t believe anyone else but me knows anything about UV light. Here are some irrelevant facts…”

Willfully ignorant people like you make me so angry. Especially when they spread their ignorant horseshit like they’re so fucking smart. As if we don’t ALL know about the dangers of long exposure to sunlight. Appropriate UV lamps for killing viruses do not equal sunlight!

Merely skimming a video which explained all of the details in the first 3 minutes–addressing everything their comment complained about–just so they can say things that make no sense if you had spent 3 fucking minutes watching the video!

(They said they only skimmed it in a separate comment.)

That is what I call willful ignorance. That’s what’s wrong with social media today. People comment nonsense without knowing anything about what they’re commenting on. Then other people read the stupid comments and upvote it, also without watching the video, and that’s all they walk away with. “LOL Vox is dumb!”

And when they get called out, people like you defend them. And you probably didn’t even watch the video either!

Yes! Willful ignorance all around. That’s exactly what it is.

There seems to be a severe lack of watching the video before commenting in this thread - basically all comments appear to be answered by the actual video content.

I do think its funny people are like. “I wonder what kind of bulbs are needed.” Basic shit that’s probably in the video! But I wouldn’t know because I didn’t watch it before commenting.

She seems to be “okay” for now. The government wasn’t nice about their visit and she can’t post anymore. She did bring out a book about the shenzhen tech market you can buy to support her. She could leave the country but her partner can’t. So she isn’t leaving either. Its so fucked up what happened. 😔

I’d be curious to see what UV lights are best for killing viruses and how long it takes. Would it have to be directly exposed or would being in the ‘shadow’ of UV rays also work just less effectively.

Like would it be feasible to have a brief UV sanitation ‘shower’ upon returning from outside to kill a large percentage of viruses/bacteria with little risk to your own health, skin/eyes, etc.?
