I joined Lemmy back in 2020 and have been using it as qaz@lemmy.ml until somewhere in 2023 when I switched to lemmy.world. I’m interested in Linux, FOSS, and Selfhosting.

I considered that too (the ploy, not the brilliant part) when he initially started changing his tone, but it didn’t take long before I realized that was very unlikely. His response the diver that rescued those kids in the flooded cave really sealed it for me realize that he’s just a man with too much money and not enough sense.

MySQL wouldn’t win any single event, but would get high scores all around for unknown reasons.

There are a lot of companies running XAMP / LAMP stacks, for some reason.

MongoDB would be at the front desk trying to convince the judges to let it enter, and while doing that would accidentally drop a suitcase filled with business and government secrets.

But haven’t you heard? It’s webscale!

  • Oh, that doesn’t sound great. One reason I was looking into it was because Docker seemingly doesn’t allow optional mounts which has been causing some issues. My home assistant is using a network attached USB device through a raspberry pi somewhere else in the house. Sometimes it would disconnect and take down my entire home assistant instance.

    1. I don’t know what this whole tangent about Chinese cars is about. Those are electric too?

The US and EU is imposing tariffs on Chinese EV’s to prevent competition with their domestic companies. It seems Adam is displeased because he blames the disadvantage of the car companies in the US and EU on them not innovating and investing in EV technology. He also seems to think that the US and EU should have invested more in domestic EV production.

I don’t entirely disagree but I also feel like not protecting the domestic EV market at all would be a bad idea, since no companies would be left to compete in the future.
