Goddamn how old is this video now? I remember watching it on some wacky ass website full of silly videos because YouTube hadn’t been invented yet.

I’ve been trying to decide the best “lazy” way to make homemade dark chocolate peanut butter cups. Typically, you would have a mold and put a bit of melted chocolate in the bottom of each mold and then use a brush to paint chocolate up the sides and then put it in the fridge to solidify and then put the peanut butter fudge in each one and then dump more chocolate on top and then wait for that to solidify and then pop them all out. But… I think I can maybe just dip each one in chocolate and let it solidify in the mold? Less steps means I can make more cups and then I can have a large supply to last me longer. But maybe then there won’t be enough chocolate on the PB cup? Maybe I don’t need that many PB cups in my life? But the ones I buy right now are super expensive and this would save me some money 🤷

First of all … ew. I don’t know who this is for honestly. Maybe it’s one of those things that was used during war times that’s now sold in stores because why not? Second, we have lots of Krogers in the US and they are currently trying to merge with Albertsons which would essentially create a monopoly on grocery stores. Let’s all hope that doesn’t go through.

You joke, but when my parents bought an electric car, the cops in their small town started harassing them. My mom drives like a saint but they keep pulling her over and giving her tickets that aren’t valid. She said she’s caught them waiting for her to leave the grocery store so they can follow her out of the parking lot and try to catch her doing something wrong. But she doesn’t, so they just pull her over anyway. This isn’t even in a rural town where people are rolling coal. It’s just a small suburb. Why do they care?

Same here brother. I went from almost a decade of 1.5 hour or more commutes to feeling healthier and happier than I had ever been. It was sad when we were kicked out of our apartment at the end of 2021, but we moved in with my parents temporarily and ended up buying a house in the spring using all the money we saved as a down payment. Thinking back, we saved far more than we had ever anticipated without even trying. We saved on gas, train fare, car maintenance, a dog walker, coffee or eating lunch at work. And then we also saved on just not going anywhere due to the pandemic like not vacationing or going out with friends. Even with all that, we definitely spent more money at the time on delivery orders, alcohol, and investing in home entertainment. But we still saved a shit ton and I wish every day that we could all just work from home if possible. Even aside from all the savings, think of how much less wasteful people were and how much less pollution we put into the air. Think of the extra sleep and the time spent with family instead of commuting. Having kids seemed so much more possible for the future working from home. But naw you gotta have that in-person interaction there isn’t any other way except over the last 2-3 years but just forget that ever happened.

Don’t worry! Well make them all return to the office so that 90% of them are forced to commute via car. That means they’ll have to buy one even if they can’t afford it! It’s genius and there’s definitely no other way this can be done because otherwise they will miss out on all that important in-office interaction bullshit!

I’ve heard stories about people receiving citations for letting homeless people sleep in their garage on nights with dangerous negative temperatures in Chicago. And while I get that we have laws for a reason to prevent certain situations from occuring that may be dangerous, it seems like if your choice is definitely die from -15F overnight or risk maybe the chance that if the garage catches fire, it wasn’t made to the same fire safety standards as a house… Just seems like a no brainer to me. Usually judges are supposed to read emergency situations like this and throw the charges out, but it sounds like they won’t even negotiate with this guy :/

This study isn’t really about kinds of protein, it’s more about different protein products and the amount of micro plastic in relation to the amount of processing. If it was just about kinds of protein, then the chart would just say “chicken” or “soybeans” instead of “plant based nugget” or “chicken breast”. Very eye opening about breaded shrimp. I would have assumed those were no worse off than a fish stick, but apparently they’re worse than chicken nuggets. In the end this just goes to reiterate that the more processed something is, the more sus it is to eat :/

That was a good article with lots of great sources. But my tinfoil hat is telling me that all of these large companies demanding return to office aren’t doing it because “beliefs”. They’re doing it because the people have gained too much power in the last few years and this is the strategy to put them back in their place. Lay people off in hordes while interest is skyrocketing and demand more from them if they want to keep their jobs. Make them afraid and vulnerable so we can control them better. But again… that’s the tinfoil hat talking.

There are very well written rules in the landlord-tenant ordinance about how to submit notice and it works both ways. So if no one received notice, then they didn’t do it per Chicago landlord-tenant ordinance. I found this out when I was researching how to submit to my landlord for repairs so that I could legally deduct from the rent. It’s all spelled out for everyone in that handy document and it’s the same for all of Chicago.

This is a weird situation and I have some insight as a Chicago resident. But I’m definitely not a lawyer, so take with a grain of salt. The way I understand it, is that under normal circumstances this situation is highly illegal as notice is required far in advance for residents to vacate the property. But under very specific emergency circumstances where the owner must vacate everyone on the property for safety, no notice is required but they have to pay to temporarily house the residents. So it doesn’t matter which situation is taking place, the owner is in the wrong.

It’s framed very inaccurately in the news as well. You’ll see articles about how ford reports people aren’t buying their electric lineup. Meanwhile the dealership is marking them up so high that they are now priced too high for the target market. But the articles never mention that part

I just found out yesterday that you can’t cast from a pixel to a fire stick. It was the first time I tried and I thought it was broken. Nope, just Google being petty.

This is precisely why I don’t actively seek promotions. Not only are there very few paths for someone to move up with my skill set, but if I do, I won’t be doing what I enjoy doing anymore. I just want to find the medium where I can make enough to live off of and also just do my work most of the time.

Bold claim when you remember all of the horrific UI that car manufacturers utilized before everyone started using Apple and Google’s UI. Sometimes I have to borrow an old car from someone and you just can’t find anything. Really, I’m more in favor of bringing back physical buttons for all basic functions, but a good UI will not only make it quick and easy to say change to the next song or view trip details, but it will also prevent you from performing more complicated tasks while in motion. We’ll see what GM’s solution is, but I have little faith.

During the pandemic, my husband and I started watching movie anthologies of various themes. One of them was of Director John Carpenter. To this day, of all the anthologies we’ve watched, that one is still my absolute favorite. His movies are so much fun, influential, and evolve in very interesting ways over time. If you haven’t already, I can’t recommend enough to watch his other movies. Glad you enjoyed this one!
