I don’t know how to feel about this. I guess it’s good that they used their platform to “talk” about LGBTQ topics. Probably not helpful at all, and feels like the singer just wanted to be angry about something and fucked over all the attendees and workers at the festival. For what reason though?

You have a problem with the laws then either don’t go. Or go and have your protest be at least somewhat coherent, and not bail as soon as someone slaps your wrist.

For what reason? How about to draw international attention to places with bigoted laws that also economically depend on western tourism. The singer wasn’t just being “angry.” He literary put himself and his bandmates’ freedom on the line by illegally kissing his bandmate on stage to take a stand for LGBT rights in that country. Do you get it now, or do you need this to be spelled out even more for you?

These actions could literally result in people dying. I guess that’s one of the points I failed to make. Just strolling into a country, kicking up a storm, and then leaving to face no practical consequences. There are groups in Malaysia that are fighting for LGBT rights in the best way that they. Instead, support these people instead of potentially being a rallying cry for more violence.

The most likely situation happened, next up would be light police involvement. I don’t think anyone would argue that their lives are in danger after this.
