After some thought, I’ve decided that we should refer to this apparent lapse by journalists as “Oceangate-gate-gate”
After decades of journalists attaching the suffix “gate” to anything even remotely scandalous, I was disappointed that I never heard anyone embrace the full stupidity of this practice by referring to this story as “Oceangate-gate”

Videos shared by researchers show how the elephants respond to call recordings addressed to them. In one, an elephant named Margaret appears to almost immediately perk up to a rumble recording addressed to her.
It’s amazing to me that elephants use, among I would assume others, the name Margaret.
So, wait a minute. This kid makes a private joke among friends, and his message is intercepted by security services and obviously taken out of context (in that they failed to realize he was privately joking among friends).
Seems to me that the security forces should eat the cost of this. This is the price you pay for spying on everyone and overreacting.

That’s good to hear. I left the bay area almost 20 years ago and I remember there being very little good pizza back then. Don’t get me wrong - there was some great food to be found, but the pizza wasn’t it
You can too often see the same thing in LED car headlights and tail lights. The most obnoxious of these flicker noticeably all the time. Not much better are the ones that seem to be on continuously when viewed in the center of your vision, but flicker in your peripheral vision. The later I find really distracting
