“no right wing talking points” is hardly left wing.
“no right wing talking points” is hardly left wing.
Not left wing. Just left.
None of them are left wing (maybe Green has some left wing stuff?)
It adds a lot more legitimacy to people protesting the crimes, which is important.
I see a bit of everything on here, but I do like that voicing leftist ideals (not sure about left wing) doesn’t get you shot down immediately from all sides (as it would in a lot of other places).
I imagine that in general leftists exist, but avoid posting in other places due to the abuse they’d receive for doing so.
I like to call pair-programming sessions (for bugs) “bebuggery sessions” at work and people haven’t complained yet.
Developing countries (supposedly mainly China) just keep all their livestock on them all the time.
Which is a massive petri-dish for developing antibiotic-resistant bacteria just about as fast as you can.
Some diff tools don’t handle indentation by default.
So if you add a wrapper, it counts everything inside it as “changed”
sets the diff to ignore whitespace

I imagine it’s more about discouraging any kind of official organising or institutional support/advertising.
Dangerous for politicians to promote it, or charities to give it resources/attention.
This keeps the scale of the boycott low enough to make less of a difference.
Also I guess it tries to shift those on the side of the ban to be the “moral authority”.
This is how a lot of PR is done.
It’s how a hell of a lot of articles are written.
PR company sends in a press release, journo thinks “great, I don’t need to do any proper work today” and then turns the press release into article format.
“paper plates” more like
I’m trying out a paid Google called Kagi for a month.
It’s pretty good so far and very fast.
And no ads or SEO prioritisation, which is the key part.
Or tracking/data-retention, so they say (it’s not open source so we only have their word for it).
Ah yeah I should have specified the jokes should be not nasty or uninformed.
But I’d hope for better from someone from within the community.

Punching down is the problem.
Also the whole “my brother is an asshole but if you call him that I’ll punch you” thing.
If he was making jokes about a community he was involved with at all, great. If it was a trans comedian making these jokes, (probably) great.
But this is just another old out-of-touch rich guy making fun about people who are already having a shitty time (on average).
Also, notice how anyone has yet to actually forbid him from doing it. He’s not being “cancelled/consequenced”.
A lot of people just find it extremely distasteful. (It hasn’t slowed him down in the slightest.)
It’s very annoying that if an article title seems interesting, that it’s a bait-and-switch/clickbait.
I honestly don’t click the ones that seem too amazing.
If the John Oliver piece on him is anything to go by, he thinks he’s saving the world.
And if that has to ruin a few thousand people’s work/life balance, it’s worth it.
Plus effective altruism blah blah.
Is this something you made? I tried googling for it.
Would love to send this around if it’s sourced.
You know it’s a sliding scale, right?
There’s not just three choices.
There’s Far-side, side-wing, side, side-leaning, center-side for both (plus center).
Then you have fiscal Vs moral lean on both sides.
