  • I was off work sick for a few days, so I decided to catch up with Super Mario RPG on Switch. I finished it and did a bit of the aftergame stuff, and it was quite fun. The style is amazing, I really enjoyed how pretty everything looks in this remake. The easter eggs and the humour in general are really good.

The negatives are the battles get a bit repetitive at times. And:

    spoiler

Whoever designed the 3D maze seems to have a personal vendetta against gamers and hates us with a passion. It did some damage… 😆

I also played some stuff on Steam. Titan Attacks (a modern Space Invaders with a cool style) and Syder Arcade when in a mood for pew pew games and Brütal Legend which I’ve had for years and only just now can play with a decent set up.

  • What? The weekend’s already here? Where did the week go? I need to look at my backlog and choose some games!

I remember Batman: Arkham City Armored Edition for Wii U was amazing. One of the few games that did really good use of the Game Pad, I had a lot of fun with it. I was tempted to get the collection for Switch, I assume it looks way better than on Wii U (which wasn’t really an issue for me). But I don’t know if I’d play all three of them from scratch…

  • GOG games I’ve been having a harder time making them work. At least the Mortal Kombtas on fullscreen mode, I’ll eventually figure that out.

I play random characters on Injustice too. I had it on the Wii U and I think I did the whole story mode there, but it’s been a while.

Let me know what you think once you play Halo. The first one at least was fun for me. I never played multiplayer though, I think that was the main thing back in the day? I’ll see how far I get on the first one before I move on to the second one…

  • I’ve been playing Halls of Torment as I mentioned last week. But I also set up a new partition exclusively for playing on my computer. I installed Garuda Linux, a distro built on ArchLinux for gaming.

As many others, I have a bunch of games on my Steam library which I’ve acquired via sales or Humble Bundles, and I’ve barely played them (if at all!). With this new setup, games are working great and I’m trying to check out more of them. I’m really surprised with how well non-native games work on Linux these days!

I’ve been playing the latest Killer Instinct, Ultra Street Fighter IV and Injustice: Gods Among Us fights every now and then.

I started a new game of Halo: Combat Evolved. I played this through years ago when I still double booted a Windows partition, and I remember having lots of fun with it. I also started Halo: Reach mostly to see how the latest entry worked on Linux (and was impressed!). I think I’m going to get proper organized and play them in chronological order if I decide to keep playing Halo. I also have the Bioshock collection, which I might also check out. And a few more I’ll go through once I’m done with these! 😬

  • I finished Zelda shortly after I posted my original comment. It was pretty good! There are some minor things that could be improved (an update hopefully?) but all in all it was quite fun. The puzzles are great, using the echoes and Tri opens up a lot of possibilities to solve them. It’s very much a Zelda in essence, but with lots of new experiences and it does bring in some of the stuff from BotW and TotK into 2D Zelda. Feels like a great new title in the Zelda franchise and maybe it’ll allow for Four Swords/Tri Force Heroes co-op kind of game where you can play with both Link and Zelda in the future. It’s great to see Zelda evolving with the times, still providing fun games, although the story forces us to have our suspension of disbelief full on. It makes absolutely no sense to have a new rewrite of the story each game 😅 (What? Zelda didn’t know who Link was?!?!).

I went back to explore after I beat the final boss. I was not even close to finding all the heart containers! And I need to see how many echoes I’ve missed (gotta catch 'em all!).

Halls of Torment came out of Early Access recently. Just a coincidence that I randomly ended up playing it to be honest. It’s not the kind of game I usually go for, but it’s been really fun!
