Trump is a mobster wannabe. He is also dumb as fuck and a useful idiot who is controlled on the one hand by foreign powers, but also by right wing extremist Christians, some of whom actually see him as a Messiah figure. I fully assume he is going to install himself as a dictator fast, as that’s what the past 4 years of preparation were about. He’ll also die, probably. He’s old, fat, doesn’t exercise, eats unhealthy, in a super stressful job and loads of people want him dead.

I can’t remember the time (in my time anyway ) that so many people wanted a US president dead.

Anyway, he’ll die soon and the the christo fascists will start the infighting who can become the next US dictator.

I fully expect chaos in this year with chaos being the sweet synonym for that mass deportation starting, people will resist, people will get shot and die, people will start terrorist attacks. Whenever you work for years to pit one group of citizens against another, it’s not going to end well.

Also, where would they go? Any developed country will have it much, MUCH “worse” for them than the US and the alternative is moving to heavenly places like Russia or China. Good luck with that.

Just to add to this: rockets use a lot of fuel. And with “a lot” I mean that a rocket typically is 90% fuel, 7% rocket, 3% cargo (my numbers may be off a bit, but not by much). The further you want to go the more fuel you need, the heavier you get,the more fuel you need, and so on.

So to move out 100 tonnes of cargo, were going to waste, say 3000 tonnes of fuel, and that is just to get it into orbit. Getting enough speed to get it to the sun would probably literally require exponential amounts of extra fuel, which would require extra fuel rockets to come up, rockets just carrying “a little bit of” fuel for another rocket.

Then on going to the sun: the earth moves at about 30km/s around the sun. To cancel that out, you’d need a rocket capable of reaching 30km/s, which we currently -afaik- cannot. We can’t get rocket engines that can eject the burning gasses out at those soeeds, hence we can’t reach that speed, hence we can’t cancel out 30km/s. We’d need entirely new technology to be able to do that

Thet didn’t pioneer reusable rockets, that was done decades ago already, and they’re not cheap either. They’re expensive, and they’re floating on government grants so that Elon musk can decide to absolutely obliterate a launch pad and pollute the kilometers wide surroundings.

SpaceX sull hasn’t done anything hat wasn’t done better long before. They do party hard reen a rocket of theirs explodes, which I never saw NASA do. Didn’t watch NASA blow up launch pads because of their CEO either.

They managed to get their super duper new heavy rocket in an uncontrolled spin in low earth orbit! I’m sorry, Noy impressed by results that are less than half of what -again- NASA did in the 60’ and 80’ of the last century.
