And he violated all kinds of laws when in office and after his term ended.

I think there is a high likelihood we will see President Vance before the end of this second Trump term. I can’t really tell which is worse.

Individual communities can set up guidelines, that if you have a new account under 6 months, and you have a negative overall karma,
you’re banned from that community until a human can look through your post history to see if you should be unbanned.you’ll have to repost previously highly upvoted content to pump up your karma numbers, until you have a positive overall karma.
FTFY, I’d really prefer to leave that mistake of karma at Reddit instead of polluting Lemmy with it.
Lemmy karma-less method also drastically reduces the value of bot accounts to farm karma (for nefarious or advertising use before being banned).
In context of this conversation Deadpool vs Wolverine would be storytelling of storytelling. Great examples are all the breaking of the forth wall and exploration of tangential stories or actors that had short lives or never made it off a writers page. It was less a single cohesive story and more a moving about storytelling.
The problem I have with theaters is that the time and money sink is a terrible value these days. For my wife and I it’s always somehow shy of $70 and takes up most the night.
The money is bad, yes, but the deal breaker for me is…other movie-goers.
For 90 minutes, modern movie-goers simply:
Paying for a movie is expensive, but when its regularly ruined by others in the theater it simply stops being worth trying to go anymore. I’ll watch it at home when it comes there.
edit: After checking on responses overnight I see I have 3 downvotes. I can only assume that these are the movie-goers I’m talking about in my list above. To those folks, why are you upset with my post? You won. You have the whole theater to yourself because I’m certainly not going to be in the same room watching a movie with you. Enjoy your theaters. I hope there are enough of you and you don’t annoy each other enough to drive each other off that movie theaters don’t go out of business.
So, in theory if you had a vacuum pump and put the vacuum chamber in a freezer, would that just be a much slower freeze dryer?
The description you have is nearly identical to the freeze dryer reviewed. The one feature missing from what you’re describing and the commercial product reviewed was the commercial product had warmers for the trays to speed up sublimation. Besides the tray warmers, the freeze dryer was a vacuum chamber wrapped in a freezer.
There’s all kinds of info in here about freeze dryers that I never knew I didn’t know.
I still don’t want a freeze dryer, but I can now speak authoritatively as to why.
Every public library is a beacon of hope. Its the most true symbol of a civilized society. Each one brings light of knowledge where there would otherwise be darkness of ignorance.
Please pass my thanks to your wife for advancing civilization.
I remember back before 2020 there was tons of mountain and cabins and homes and stuff like that anywhere from 2:50 to 500K. Now you won’t find a single one less than 800k…
WFH and good satellite internet were a bit of a game changer here. You could now live in a remote place and work a job with a high income.
Regular homes are just as bad. I’m seeing homes in my area that sold for around $200 to 300K in 2019, now they are 500k and above.
Supply and demand here. There aren’t enough houses being build for people (and private investors) that want to buy them. The price rises.
I don’t understand how this makes any sense? Salaries were not doubled, but somehow the price of all homes are now twice as much.
Lots to unpack with this one. First, some people’s salaries were doubled. There has been some niche sectors of industry that have seen large year over year increases in income, specifically some STEM fields. Second, housing price rises are not linear across all pricepoints. The cheaper house are going up significantly faster than more expensive homes. Why? Because there are more people shopping at the lower pricepoints. When we bought our new-to-us house a few years ago buying a house $150k more expensive than the house were were living in got us very little more house. However, buying a house $250k more expensive got a lot more house (larger, better neighborhood, more outside space, etc).
Toxic jobs drain your life, even when you leave work you’re worried about work, worried about getting fired from the toxic job…unless you can scrape together a small amount of money saved. If you’re sitting at home spending what little extra you have trying to distract yourself from thinking about work recognize that that cycle will NEVER END. Make it your mission to save every damn penny you can until you have a small amount of savings.
When you have that money, you’ll notice that you’re not quite as worried about being fired because you know you’ll be able to pay your rent/mortgage next money, you’ll have food on the table, and you’ll be able to cover the bare minimum of costs to live. The situation has now changed dramatically because you could quit tomorrow if you needed to, and you’ll be okay next month.
Working the toxic job has now stopped being a necessity, and now its a choice you make. You choose to be there. You have the power now. You can choose to quit and be gone if you absolutely need to and you’re not going to be homeless. Now you work the toxic job not for them, but for yourself. You use that job, as toxic as it is, to get what you need out of it to raise yourself to the next level of what you need to go elsewhere. You’re also not trying to avoid thinking about work because you’re not scared of it. You have some mental capacity back and can start asking yourself what you want to do next, what you need to do that, and how to get those things accomplished. Is it more school? A certification of some kind? A tool needed for your trade? Experience? Maybe you can get that experience at your toxic employer. Volunteer for what the work is that would give you the experience. You’re going to make mistakes in this new work. Make your mistakes there at the toxic employer. Gain the knowledge you need, then start looking elsewhere all.
Find your new/better employer, and make your escape.
It says “Chaos Controller” silkscreened right on the controller. It does exactly what it says on the tin.
I’m using the word “safe” here to mean “dependable”. As in, you can depend on Vivaldi to support v2 manifest addons (of which uBlock is one). If you use any addons you like that require v2 manifest in a Chromium based browser, you can Vivaldi (or Brave, I believe) to continue to support your desired addons until July 2025. After July 2025, the code in the browser that allows v2 manifest addons will be removed from all supported Chromium browsers (that I’m aware of).
I don’t know. I’m not a Brave user. I saw the v2 Manifest comments elsewhere when looking at Vivaldi info, and it was also mentioned Brave was following the same July 2025 as Vivaldi for v2 manifest (old school addon format) support.
My comment is specifically around v2 Manifest support for addons. uBlock Origin requires v2 manifest. If you’re fine without it, you can’t ignore all of this discussion. However, uBlock Origin can block more than ads.
Vivaldi (and Brave I think) are safe until July 2025.
Why does it take so much to ignite protests in America when other countries are more prone to protest?
Individualist vs collectivist cultural differences? Lack of a good social safety net is likely another reason. When are you going to protest? People are crazy busy just working enough hours to feed and house themselves and their families. Maybe you can plan your protesting between in the 30 minutes before you need to pick up your kid from school/daycare before you take them home and start cooking dinner for them. Are you going to skip work to protest? You could lose your job and then you can’t feed and house your family.
I’d also say that here in the USA protest need massive involvement by the populace to even get noticed. Very rarely does a single issue resonate with a large enough group of people to get critical mass for outside attention.
What does it take for Americans to come together and to want more from their community leaders.
I can’t name a single person in my area I’d consider a “community leader”.
I’m agreeing with @KoboldCoterie@pawb.social that it sounds like this is just a framing thing.
Example:
Problem framing = “The rent is too damn high!”
Improvement framing = “Cost of rent needs to be made more affordable for renters”
Those are saying the same thing, but one is framed as a problem while the other is framed as an improvement is needed.
About 4 min. There’s a countdown on the screen after you pay and your order is being prepared.
How much do you tip on you cafe meal on top of that $20?
