Lemmy now is in many ways already the same as reddit is today when you consider social dynamics. This is mostly due to how all of social media using traditional formulas devolved into competition in unproductive cynicism.
Check out Tildes if you want to see how reddit was back then, it’s the closest thing.
Not using reddit pretty much guarantees it.
Straight to Nintendo Guantanamo.
Disproving them won’t even change antivaxer minds but it’s more about not being caught off-guard by bullshit. Education won’t fix it either. Those magical thinking movements are built on ruling elites being being proven untrustworthy time and time again.
It takes no effort to come up with made up antivax lines of reasoning since they don’t have to be true. Disproving them takes much more effort so it’s worth knowing the most common ones.
My bad!
That’s what I linked directly. Eurogamer link in post text/body is there for attribution of a news outlet that surfaced quality content from a personal blog and to explain where that title came from. The original title might have been especially confusing if you’re not familiar with statistics.
If you’re after moderate right flavored discussion I sympathize but you’ll have trouble finding it as the broader right has been consumed by alt right and far right. If your point is that those viewpoints specifically are missing from Lemmy then I’d say it’s a good riddance. I just wish Lemmy was as hard on some immature leftie takes.
The best part about Vengeance is that it releases on hardware that can actually run it. Original release performance left a very bad taste in my mouth and I have been hoping for ports ever since. It’s a shame since SMTV tease before Switch released was one of the more exciting announcements at the time.
IIRC it depends heavily on which phase of sleep you’re in when you wake up. If you interrupt actual dream / REM phase you’re more likely to remember it.
You’re clearly mistaken, Lemmy devs fixed it: https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy/issues/4288

(there’s a high chance I’m sending this into a void)
Whatever you do, usually as long as the data frame fits in memory it should be pretty fast. Depending on functions you’re using applymap on splices of columns might be faster but code readability will suffer.
How big is your dataset? If it’s huge or your need are complex you’ll get way more performance by switching from Pandas to Polars dataframes rather than trying to optimize Pandas operations.
Guy wanted to vent about smart thermostats, explicitly said he doesn’t need advice and got bajillion responses with advice, mostly from FOSS folks who couldn’t contain themselves. I’d be annoyed too.
What do you use Facebook for?
In terms of replacements with somewhat close feature sets there’s Friendica. It’s ActivityPub based like Lemmy and Mastodon. But ultimately it’s usually about people and groups you interact with and they probably won’t be there.
TIL Ada Spark is a whole different thing from Apache Spark and I can’t even complain about Ada one because it predates Apache one by 15 years.
It’s no different than contract tracing that’s been on phones since Covid, probably neglible effect on battery since all it has to do is periodically scan nearby Bluetooth devices which the phone already does.
Long history would imply continuity, not “so long ago that nobody in the comment section is old enough to have lived through it”.
The amount of people that condone what’s happening is pretty disturbing so I’m deleting this thread.
How do you stand image scaling on 3DS? It’s either poststamp sized or horribly mangled by non-integer scaling on a very low res display. It’s the reason I keep DSi along NN3DS.
