I have a lot of friends who have a fruit smoothie every morning and wonder why they aren’t losing weight. Bananas, apples, and grapes in particular are to be avoided. Most berries are okay.

Modern fruits have too much fructose for good health these days. They’ve been bred to be way too sweet.
As a child in the US I was taught “The Principal is you ‘pal’.” which is not true but helpful when spelling it. Like “dessert” has more ‘s’ than “desert” because it’s something you want more of.
Yep, looks about right. The photo to too dark to see the .25" drives but with all those boxes, it’s clear it gets use. I can almost hear that damn dot matrix printer though because I had that model one at home as a kid . That thing was LOUD.
Get down to the part where it’s happening inconstantly even across small pieces of ground. 34 years is a short time for a building foundation.
This is correct by US standards. When writing the number out we use commas to separate the millions and thousands places like this: 4,500,000. But when we abbreviate large numbers with a word we use a decimal place appropriately in this way so the same number would be: 4.5 million.
In some but not all of Europe they might write the same number with periods where we use commas so they would write 4.500.000 but they would write the abbreviated version the same.
Yet other places around the world would only use spaces instead of commas or periods and write 4 500 000.
4-5 is when gender or social identity comes in really strongly and a surprising number of kids show their dysphoria for the first time. Its actually not limited to gender, a lot of a child’s first independent personality really begins to shine through at that age. Kids decide what name they want to be known by, what things they personally like and dislike, favorite color and food. All is subject to growth but this will often be the first set of preferences to set and stay that way for a prolonged time.
I’ve personally seen two kids begin their gender transitioning around 5. Demanding to be called a different name, insisting on a different pronoun, choosing more gendered clothing. Some parents choose to just let the kid do what makes them happy and go with it.
Roughly a quarter of the armed forces is under 25, the largest age group https://www.statista.com/statistics/232711/number-of-active-duty-us-defense-force-personnel-by-age/
So even if there’s a split, the front lines will still be mostly people too young to rent a car.
Yeah, somehow all my gun-owning friends get all awkward and quiet when I ask them how it’s gonna feel to shoot at the 18yo army recruits and national guard when they finally “come for their guns.” I haven’t even gotten to ask what anti-drone measures they have.
Not one of them is ready for the realities of a shooting war with the American Military.
My spouse / co-op partner and I have our co- battle station in our bedroom due to a tiny house so when we rebuilt our desktops we opted for totally opaque cases from BeQuiet and they are great!
You probably meant Amish. Quakers lifestyle these days is just being really nice most of the time, in my experience.
In the US, Legacy admissions are common at any school selective enough to have admissions.
High street is an alternative term for Market and used in towns where Market Street is not used. None of them are really the highest street in town, at least not in the US East Coast. The actual elevated places are usually called -view.
Guaranteed the top 1% of Kenyans produce more emissions than the bottom 60% of Kenyans and the bottom 60% of Americans. One super rich person with a jet can produce literally tons more emissions than a normal person without one. Kenyan elite aren’t somehow less wasteful emitters because their country has overall less emissions.
I know it’s hard, but British English isn’t wrong just because it’s not American English
Considering that the actors couldn’t do the usual marketing tours due to the strike so there’s a lot of average Marvel fans who didn’t know it was out, I’m not surprised Opening Weekend wasn’t amazing. It’s had a better opening than most movies this year except heavily marketed block busters so I don’t think this is really an overall bad sign for this film. Unlike Eternals, I think this is going to build audience over it’s first couple of weeks. Saw a lot more people talking about it on social media than anything since Barbie/Oppenheimer.
The articles recommended when you try to leave Ars Techica aren’t restricted to any kind of recent news so I got a headline that Aaron Swartz had been arrested for JSTOR downloads and had a whole “what year is it!?” moment.
Because a paper calendar isn’t a viable option for everyone, which is how I started…
It’s not being inflexible to understand that a particular option isn’t going to work for you, or others. I’m thrilled a paper calendar works for -you- but for people like me it’s not a viable option and calling us inflexible isn’t helping.
I think you misunderstood me. It’s great you have a place where you can leave stuff and it doesn’t get messed with. I don’t have that in my life so if I want something to be the way I left it, I need to keep it with me like on my phone. I’m glad that you can use a calendar for your purposes and you have a safe place for it but not everyone has that so quit shaming people for having different coping strategies than your own.
It’s called an Apricot Poodle, once in a great while I hear them called butterscotch poodles too.
Also, that’s a standard normal size poodle. They were water hunting dogs. It’s the little ones that are bred to be tiny that are weird.
