  • While I agree the easiest path to a Dem victory is taking the common sense stance of “we won’t support genocide” the math in this article seems a little off:

In a survey conducted over two days in late August, 1,076 registered voters from around the country pitched in with their preferences – and despite the widespread anger directed toward the Biden administration and Democrats for bankrolling Israel’s year-long war on Gaza, 29.4 percent of respondents said they will still vote for the party.

But hot on Harris’ heels, 29.1 percent said they will vote for Stein, who has controversially said that what is happening in Gaza “makes any genocide pale by comparison” and has made ending the war a key pillar of her party platform.

29.4% is slightly better than 29.1%

  • Funding Ukraine and Taiwan is straight up proxy war strategy we’ve been using since before Biden was born…

It’s a hell of a lot cheaper than letting China and Russia expand and actually having to fight them directly.

With Israel it’s backwards, were sending billions to a country that’s invading others, committing a genocide, and increasing tensions.

It takes an insane amount of hypocrisy to lump all three as the same. That’s just as true with OPs meme as it is with anyone else.

    It’s just a weird meme

Like, someone changed the speech bubbles.

    Someone added “what debate”

Someone added the part at the end

Someone replaced something with “Israel, Ukraine & Taiwan”

And they all look like they were added by someone different

It’s like a Ship of Thesuaus but a shitty meme

  • The worst part is those same “moderates” love to shit on Nazis, then turn around and say we can’t protest funding a genocide because there could be more genocide…

Like, they hate Nazis, but not for the right reasons, they might not even be thinking on a deeper level than “they’re not us”.

There’s no level of genocide that’s acceptable. Even with the Nazis, there were people arguing for worse, that obviously doesn’t make what happened better cuz it could have been worse. In present day Bibi is facing criticism from Israel’s extremist right that he’s not genociding enough, that doesn’t magically make what they’re currently doing ok.

    It could be worse

Is literally true, no matter how bad something is, it can always be worse. How bad shit can be reaches all the way out to infinity, if “it could be worse” is used as a justification, then anything can be justified.

It’s just not logical, but that’s never stopped “moderates” before…

  • Really good study, but it looks like the only things with a stronger correlation than attention control score and resting pupil size was caffeine and nicotine.

And it’s concerning so many participants couldn’t verify nicotine/caffeine consumption when those are the biggest connections when they disclose their sample was “moderate”.

We’d also have to get into how nicotine/caffeine would be “performance enhancing” for these kinds of tests, yet would make the pupils contract. They should have tossed the participants who couldn’t report nicotine/caffeine instead of including them.

But ideally it would have just been participants who had abstained from either for 24 hours. Good luck with that tho.

  • Yeah, it just seems like its measuring engagement during the testing.

Would have been better to take measurements at “rest” as well, then compare them.

It’d be a lot easier to believe there’s a larger increase in pupil size when concentrating than permenantly.

That being said both my parents had blue eyes, and looking at my DNA I should have blue eyes. But they’re green, which can be explained by pupil dilation causing an increase in pigment density. Like how David Bowie has one eye that’s permanently dilated so looking at a picture it looks like he has heterochromia when he doesnt.

    https://slate.com/culture/2016/01/the-story-behind-david-bowie-s-unusual-eyes.html

Shits interesting, but there’s going to need to be a lot of follow up studies to rule out confounding variables.

  • Interesting, but I think it has more to do with focus and/or adrenal response…

That being said, I’ve taken the Wechsler IQ test, and scored higher than can be measured reliably.

I’m super light sensitive, had some optometrists refuse contact prescriptions because my pupils “dilated too much”, and had to pay like a $200 licensing fee when I got LASIK because they had to use some special attachment because it had to be done wide than normal Lasik due to pupil size.

So maybe there is something to this? I still think there’s a middle step in there and not direct correlation though
