You definitely should try something with an actual desktop. It sounds like you’re wanting a headed server with virtualization capabilities. I’d personally run LXD or KVM and LXC if I needed a type 2 hypervisor and containers like what you’re saying. Luckily, a ton of distros support both of these at this point.

Btw, proxmox utilizes KVM and LXC on the backend. So the only difference is that you’re leveraging the tools directly. If you’re a CS student then learning the underlying tools is the best way to learn about a system and how it all interacts.

Not to doubt that those numbers are accurate (it’s probably worse honestly), but the citation for that quote leads to a broken link on a Utah recycling site. It probably mostly goes to a landfill but they were probably saying that 30% of the total makeup of US landfills is EPS; not that only 30% of all EPS actually gets there.

I think everyone needs to remember that we have essentially turned this virus into the new flu. We’ll probably settle to pushes for yearly vaccines to reduce symptoms and the chance of passing it on, like the flu. And if you’re not immunocompromised or elderly, then think of those around you who might be. They are the ones you’re affecting as well as yourself if you get this vaccine.
