Which Dolby? I have to change the settings when I change services or individual programs to find which setting actually results in the surround channels playing audio.
Do I need it to use Prologic, DTS, Atmos, Pro Logic II, Neo, Digital Plus, or Aura?
Audio standards are also a fucking mess. Getting a surround sound system to actually work is a nightmare because there’s more surrounded sound audio standards than there are atoms in the universe, and the “auto” settings that are supposed to take care of it just don’t.
And if the format of the media you’re watching doesn’t match your speaker setup, the audio ends up being awful.
Yeah: because getting people to get a vaccine during a pandemic that’s killing millions isn’t going to be difficult.
My Galaxy Note 8 is a backup phone. It was a flagship when it launched, yeah. But even so, it’s 7 years old, the last update for it was over 2.5 years ago, and it’s still chugging along like a champion.
Smartphone design is mostly a solved problem. Take today’s screens and processors and throw in a few features from the past (removable storage, IR blaster, and headphone jack) and you have a 10-year phone.
I used to get a new phone every year because phone got way better each generation.
My phone is top-tier from 2021 (Z Fold 3), and I have had zero temptation from the newer versions. All they really have is faster processing, but since all apps are designed to run well on budget phones from 5 years ago, there’s no reason to upgrade.
They were probably just lazy in their site design and the link itself contained the token for the login or whatever.
I don’t remember which site this was, but I remember it being a pretty big one…
Anyway - I shared a link on reddit about 10 years ago, and I got a PM from a user addressing me by my first name telling me to delete the link.
Not only did it say who I was - the link logged people into my account.
I’m in Texas. The serials on the bills have to follow the Fibonacci sequence.
Highlander 2 is cocaine’s masterwork.
Magical immortality? Fuck that - now they’re aliens. And Connor is a scientist who saved the planet with a space shield. But the space shield isn’t actually necessary. And killing another alien will make him young again. And Sean Connery can be revived by yelling his name. Oh, and he can make a ball of energy from his hands to hold up a fan blade, but it’ll cost his life, I guess?
There can’t have been a single sober person involved in that production.
Google was recently successfully sued for being anit-competitive by paying third parties to set Google as the default search engine.
That payoff by Google is like 90% of Mozilla’s income, which is probably disappearing. So yeah, they’re in full panic to fill that gap.
Last time I got pretty deep in, but it became impossible when the chess notation rule required Cs and Ds, making it impossible to stay below the roman numberal sum limit.
Fun fact, you can’t get a Quran unless it’s in Quoranic Arabic. Translations aren’t considered to be the Quoran, but are instead called things like “Interpretations of the Meaning of the Holy Quran in the English Language”
They actually recently had a video about their thumbnails, and how different people see different thumbnails for the same video as they experiment to see what works.
At least they’re honest about it I guess.
All a work history says for lots of jobs is that you followed dress code and showed up. It doesn’t mean you accomplished anything.
And it often says nothing about your ability to perform tasks unsupervised or willingness to delay graticifation. Someone working for 4+ years without payment to prepare for the future appears more forward-looking to lots of employers than the person who went to work straight out of high school.
Is it always fair? No. But all else being equal I’ll hire someone with a degree every time, so when I have limited time and 300 resumes with only 25 of them have degrees, guess which 275 I’m gonna instantly eliminate?
A degree shows that you can complete a long-term multi-phase project involving a large variety of tasks and disciplines while following the rules established by the organization.
Are the devs volunteers? Yeah, the publishers take a lot of money, but if the games are all being pirated then the devs could get 100% and still make less money.
I see like 10 a day. I work in an enclave city for the uberrich where the average new home being built costs what I make in a century (and I make pretty good money money), so we’ve got lots of them.
I’ve seen a bunch getting paint jobs. The matte black ones look like what scifi Nazi gestapo would drive, but all of the paint jobs look better than the bare metal. There’s a brushed-gunmetal one that I think is a pretty attractive compared to the rest. The vehicle is still ugly, but it’s less-ugly with a good paint job.
You can drive all you want on private land without having a license or insurance or registering your car. Some states even have tax-free fuel (especially diesel) you can buy for ag equipment, since the fuel tax is for maintaining roads.
But when you use public roads you have to follow the rules and pitch in towards their maintenance.
He should at least transfer a shitton of military gear to Ukraine in the coming days. Not little stuff either.
Top-tier tanks, jets, warships, and more. Enough to absolutely crush the Russian war machine. Basically everything shy of nukes and loads of it.
