How in the world is a zero emissions engineering marvel dystopian?! You know what the long terms effects of cooling towers are? If feels more humid down wind!
Enormously long when compared to those tiny hands.
I was kind of hoping they would make it coop, my SO loves Zelda series and I definitely think they’d love a game with the breadth of BotW or TotK but optional coop elements. Their biggest complaint about those and past gen Zelda games was we can’t play together.
Not to defend dems strategy but look at 2010 for a prime example of what my post above was talking about. ACA is exactly what young voters wanted, what dems pushed for in 2008 and was exactly what GOP ran against in 2010. And in 2010, young voters didn’t show up, so all the congressional members who pushed it through got unseated by conservatives eager to rip it apart and stonewall anything else Obama did.
So yes, my point stands. It’s because young voters do not vote, especially not in midterm years between presidential elections that we aren’t getting politicians who appeal to the under 50-60 block. Because even when Dems go all out and give them everything they want, they still don’t show up at the polls to maintain momentum, and Dems lose a ton of ground. So can you blame them for making the choice between getting once in a generation power plays to change the status quo then go right back to letting GOP rip everything apart piecemeal and load the courts with conservative judges, or pick safer bet candidates who appeal to the ones who regularly turn out to vote even if progress only comes in bite sized changes they can slip through with aid of moderates and independents?
The math is there, you just have to look at the entire equation. GET OUT AND VOTE. EVERY ELECTION.
Change starts from the bottom, not the top.
Young people aren’t voting = political parties seeing no reason to appeal to them.
Older generations vote, so politicians who appeal to older generations get promoted over ones who might otherwise have broad appeal.
Don’t complain about there being nothing but geriatric candidates if you’re only engaging in National level races and not taking part in local, regional and state elections that are spring boards for the younger politicians to rise up the ranks to get onto the national level.
You want to see change? Vote. In every election you’re eligible to vote in. And get all your friends and co-workers to do the same. Doesn’t matter if it’s for city council, school board or senate races. Just fucking vote.
This, Biden isn’t going to drop out and most of the people calling for him to resign benefit either directly from him no longer being on the ballot, or indirectly benefit in the chaos and doubt of opportunist in the democratic party jumping on what they perceive as an opportunity to enhance their standing and power within the party and political establishment as a whole.
If one singular data point (a bad debate performance) is enough to make you or anyone else think a person should immediately step aside, you’re exactly the kind of person these attacks and campaigns are directed at: someone easy to sway and scatter. I don’t particularly like Biden or most of what he’s done in the last 2 years specifically, but I also know that splitting off from him or encouraging a third candidate that will split the vote is just going to hand GOP the reigns for the next 4 years and given how they’ve spent the last 8 stomping on rights and democracy, it’ll probably be another 20 years before they lose power short of another revolution or civil war. So weighing those two scenarios, yeah I’m just going to vote Biden, sleepy or dark brandon, doesn’t matter since he can always resign after the election and let Kamala take up POTUS.
Honestly miss rage comics, most of them were pretty cringe and reskinned 4chan greentext but there was a surprising amount of creativity and humor that could be put into them when people were doing more than just following a formula for imaginary Internet points.
Thinking of things like the time someone did the entire Bohemian Rhapsody song in rage comic form.
Oh how history has been white washed. Lemmy isn’t perfect. But reddit never was either.
Russia invaded Ukraine on false pretexts with the intent to use military action to overthrow a democratically elected government after their last attempt at coup/puppet government failed when their patsy fled the country after his failed attempt.
After the US failed to act in 2014 despite evidence of Russia starting proxy wars against Ukraine and annexing land illegally, and further muddied by Trump’s attempts to withhold defense aid packages he was obligated by law to deliver.
So yes, US involvement has been justified and Ukraine has not only been happy for the assistance but requested more to ensure their freedom and prosperity doesn’t vanish tomorrow with Putin’s intent to rape the entire country.
Marjorie Greene has gone on record supporting Russia. And Trump refuses to criticize Russia.
Literally the entire GOP with standouts like Greene going far as to say we should cut all aid to Ukraine and shift to helping Russia. The entire right wing of our government took the red too literally and jumped in bed with former Soviet agents for a pocket full of rubles.

The building had been on fire for hours at that point with no water pressure to run the sprinklers or allow firefighters to effectively combat it. It was decided to stop efforts to save the building as it was presumed the integrity of the structure was damaged beyond repair.
As for the reporters announcing it collapsing early, its doubtful that it was anything but one of many mistakes reporters made live on air hours into an exhausting day of chaos. Maybe that had been told the building was going to collapse at any minute or maybe they had been told efforts to stop collapse had ceased and an assumption was made by the crew on the ground it had already fell. As I recall it was the BBC that said it fell before it actually did, so the idea of a foreign news outlet being in on a false flag conspiracy is just too ridiculous to be believable over something such as an exhausted reporter misspeaking in the middle of an emotionally overwhelming day.
They designed the buildings to implode because on the 60s and 70s there was a worry that buildings would topple over onto neighbouring buildings if damaged or compromised, and was a legitimate concern as architects were putting forth designs using less reinforcement because they didn’t need as much half a century earlier to build things like the empire state building thanks to better building techniques and materials.
They did exactly what they were designed to do when their integrity was compromised to the point to failure, which is impressive feet. Just ask any engineer what happens when a small but dense and fast moving object slams into the end of a second class lever.
Surely this will not cause reliability and readiness issues over the next decade.
Thats the thing about hypoxia, you don’t struggle and your body doesn’t react to reduced or non existent oxygen, its only when co2 starts to build up that people gasp and struggle to breathe. Watch the video in my edit above and tell me at what point Destin looked like he was in pain. But he absolutely was at risk of dying and quite rapidly in a scenario they were not trying knock him unconscious.
Our bodies simply do not react to nitrogen because 79% of our atmosphere is nitrogen. Our body expects that every gulp of air we breathe will be mostly nitrogen. Normally the co2 we exhale is heavier and falls towards our feet, and why sleeping with a blanket over your head can feel like you’re suffocating.
The execution itself was flawed by not ensuring the victims head was elevated above the rest of his body and there was no method implemented to extract or remove the co2 he was exhaling. If he was in a proper pod or sealed chamber sitting up right with oxygen being removed as in the video, he would have lost consciousness in minutes to potentially seconds depending how quickly they could lower the o2 concentrations. Using a mask and having him lay on his back gave the co2 no where to go, ontop of him holding his breath which only amplified how his body reacted to rising co2 levels and sent him into panic.
Correct me if Im wrong but those pods are in Sweden, and also take steps to ensure what a person exhales is quickly removed from the system to prevent rebreathing. If this had been done with one of those pods, he would have lost consciousness in minutes, the fact that he lived to struggle for long suggests this setup was not using pure nitrogen, and not accounting for exhaling. Strangling him would have been quicker, meaning he was getting oxygen somehow.
Edit: I recommend watching the Smarter Every Day episode on Hypoxia. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=kUfF2MTnqAw the TL;DR is that if done right, dying from a proper nitrogen execution would be practically painless.
In this execution, the setup seems to have accidentally on purpose been setup to ensure maximum suffering, even disregarding the victim holding their breathe and seemingly hyperventilating themselves to saturate their co2 levels, something the body will respond to and trigger panic flight or fight responses.
Yeah but the F-22 hungers for Sukhoi so we gotta let it eat. /s
Sarcasm doesn’t come over well on the internet. You’re absolutely right that burning wood for power is stupid really the only thing we should be using for steam turbines is nuclear.
