Pirky@lemmy.worldto You Should Know@lemmy.world•YSK that the recommended daily fiber intake is 25g for women and 38g for men in the USA. 95% of the country does not meet this amount.7·1 year agoIf you suddenly add the recommended dosage to your diet, you will absolutely have problems like that at first.
It’s ideal to slowly increase your fiber intake so your body has time to adjust to it. That way those problems are minimized until it’s a regular part of your diet.

It’s so incredibly good at reflecting/moving heat that it could even cool whatever it’s painted on. I’ll have to find a source on this again…

Pirky@lemmy.worldto Nintendo@lemmy.world•Beyond Good & Evil - 20th Anniversary Edition – Launch Trailer – Nintendo SwitchEnglish5·1 year agoThe Steam reviews aren’t painting a good picture. That version has poor optimization as well as Denuvo.
Looks like I’ll just play the PS3 remake on RPCS3. That might be the definitive way to play it at the moment.

It Might Not Work19·1 year agoWe’ve had logging tariffs on them for a bit, especially at the start of the pandemic when lumber prices were insane and getting rid of them would’ve helped lower prices a bit.
Pirky@lemmy.worldto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•What do companies get out of rewards programs4·1 year agoI can kind of answer this question. For a year, I worked at a big box store where you can “save big money”. They had periodic training and one of the modules was on their store card.
The question was, “Why do we want people to have our card?”
I replied, “Because we don’t have to pay the standard processing fees.”
“No, it’s because of loyalty. If they have a [big box store] card, then they’re much more likely to spend their money here instead of [competitor].”
I have that and also MC:LA for the PS3. I recently learned that Rockstar never officially ported MC:LA to the PC so the only official ways to play it are on the PS3 and 360. And sadly RPCS3 still needs more optimization before it’s playable. I get about 15-30 fps whenever I try it.

And that we may need to look into a “universe background time” and use that as the new baseline. Kind of like how we have GMT.
Pirky@lemmy.worldto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Why don't we have one timezone covering the whole earth?24·1 year agoI think it would be better to think of it as, “Do we want everyone to have the same general idea of what 5pm means? Or to have everyone be on one time?”
Edit: I know it’s an imperfect question as northern/southern latitudes can get dark sooner/later than the other pending the season. But 5pm to a Californian is going to feel very different than to a German if we’re all on one time.
Those are just my thoughts, though.

I personally haven’t noticed any difference between the emulated one and a “real” BIOS, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t one. In theory they should all work the same regardless of their version, but I don’t know that.

You don’t have to make sure your canara is level to get a “flat” shot. You can use various photo editing programs to rotate the photo so it is level.
I’m still using Lightroom and Photoshop for editing, but there are free options like GIMP and RawTherapee.

Plus it’s effort driving from our homes to wherever the protests may be. I’m being partially facetious here, but these all play a factor in this.
Pirky@lemmy.worldto News@lemmy.world•Where is the ice? Great Lakes ice cover is nearly non-existent and reaches 50-year record low20·1 year agoI never thought that in 10 years, we’d go from one of the coldest UP winters I’d ever seen to one of the warmest. This was my first Christmas and New Years in 30 years where I didn’t see snow on the ground. It’s sad to see.
I worry how this will mess with the following seasons. With the lack of ice, the lake levels drop faster because the water can evaporate. Pair that with liquid water’s darker color, means it will heat up faster and evaporate that much more water.
The lack of snow means we’ll have lower spring runoff than normal. So the lakes won’t get replenished as spring arrives. This could send us into drought conditions really quickly. All of this will lead to plummeting lake levels. I wonder if it’ll reach the levels from 2007-2012.
Can confirm about the unrest. My friend group is discussing these events daily. And a few of them are actually going out and protesting. I’m likely to join in this summer.
