  • While I am impressed that No Man’s Sky pulled a 180 in the end and I doubt they’ll repeat the same mistakes with this, a dose of some skeptism is always healthy.

Also, doesn’t hurt to check what the thing looks like at release–we just had The Day Before pull the ol’ switcharoo on people, after all–and how it plays when it’s out before making a purchase (looking right at Cyberpunk the game vs Cyberpunk the game that was pitched to people, here…no amount of “it’s better now” is gonna bring the game that was hyped up before release/used “Work in Progress” as a shield to life. Not without a complete rework. Could also apply to the above The Day Before too). By all means, believe that the devs learned, I really hope they did, cuz as a Fantasy junkie, this looks like something I’d really enjoy…but also be at least a little cautious in what you’re gonna throw money at

  • Then nothing will ever improve or get done, because perfection is a myth that varies from person to person and even at it’s base definition (the quality or state of being perfect: such as freedom from fault or defect) is an impossibilty since anything created by man is gonna be as faulty as we are…and for those that choose to follow it, what happens is they become hard procrastinators, because they’re setting stupidly high standards for themselves or others that border on impossible to keep.

There’s a reason why saying like “perfection is the enemy of good/ finished” and “aim for good, not perfect” exist.

Not even gonna touch on morality. That’s a whole other can of worms I’m too exhausted to open.

  • Depends. Do the people around you or your friends/family heavily use WhatsApp to stay in touch (Like, to the point of if you don’t have and use the thing, you’ve basically got no way to contact people)? If yes, well, I wouldn’t go as far as to call you stupid, but you did probably make your life harder for yourself unless you’re a hermit.

Sometimes ya just gotta bite the bullet and understand that absolutes aren’t possible. Or, they are possible, but they’re more impractical than they’re worth

  • Randomness? What do you mean? If you mean the dice rolls, they’re not too bad if you stick with the class you picked/created in the beginning of CC. And I’d argue they does serve the experience: showing the player’s progression.

Because you’re not some master of all jack of all traits in Morrowind. You can be, but you don’t start as one. You start as a poor soul fresh off the prison boat who kinda knows how to use a weapon and can’t run for long (or maybe you can do both pretty well, but suck at magic, jumping, or wearing heavy armor, or you can’t tell the end of a spear from the front so using one efficiently is going to take a while. All depends on how you made your character), but as you keep adventuring and doing those things your character kinda sucks at, you get better at them–doing much more damage and barely missing hits at all with weapons-- and rather than running slower than molasses, you can can run faster and farther than ever before.

  • It’s not so much the dice rolls that are the problem…but, they kinda are…let me try and explain what i mean

It isn’t so much that going back to Morrowind’s style of gameplay is a bad thing. Like you said, a lot of games do that and do it well, even today (Baldur’s Gate 3 does Dice Rolls for everything too, and its great) it’s more of is Bethesda going to keep it intact (either completely or modernize it) and risk potentially alienating the part of the fans that have only played Skyrim (A large part of players, at least from what I’ve seen) or are they going to scrap it and replace it with a more Oblivion/Skyrim system, thus potentially alienating the ones that are wanting an Elder Scrolls game to go back to when there were tangiable RPG mechanics in there (and that’s not assuming they don’t try and have it both ways…IDK how that’d look, but if you try pleasing everyone, well…).

Did that make sense? I’m kinda running on an energy drink and a dream atm

But really, i think it’s more of they looked at Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim, and just went “out of those 3, Oblivion’s the one that could use the tuneup the most” (again, it’s the redhead middle child, sandwiched between the much more universally loved Skyrim and respected older Morrowind).

  • I can kinda see why they went with Oblivion. For one, Morrowind would be harder to do because it relies heavily on invisible dice rolls and she stats of you vs the enemy for…basically everything. From hit chance, to if your spell is succesfully cast, to how much damage your armor (or the enemy’s) eats up. Unless they gut that entire system and do a more modernized one instead (like Oblivion/Skyrim’s)

Another reason i wanna say they picked Oblivion is because, frankly, it’s the middle redhead child of the “modern” elder scrolls main games. Everyone praises Morrowind and Skyrim, but Oblivion…yeah. I love it, it was what Skyrim was to many players, but yeah it can be rough in a lot of aspects. Sometimes even more so than Morrowind (YMMV. I could easily get used to Morrowind, even vanilla. Everytime i go back to Oblivion, I have to make myself look past the roughness to see the good stuff).

IDK, i see this as a great second chance for the game…and, foolish it may be but, I’m also hoping they restore Cyrodiil to the jungle it was hyped up to be in Morrowind and the pocket guides since the tech is there now, plus they no longer have to cash in on the Lord of the Rings movies. They won’t. But i can dream.

  • I just don’t like how you get around in an iphone. Admittedly, I haven’t used Macs in a very long time, so maybe they’re pretty good nowadays (I still hear you can’t upgrade them at all tho, sooo…maybe not?), but most of it comes down to me feeling lost navigating the thing.

The other thing is how expensive Apple Products are in comparison to the competition, and the walled garden thing they got going on. Androids are just easier to move around in, cheaper, and give me more control over my device. That’s the other big thing that steers me away from iphones: I pay more for a “premium” product and get a lack of control over it.

On android: If I wanna not use the Play Store, I can ignore it and use something else, if I don’t like the stock apps, i can look for replacements that do suit my tastes (tbf, I can do this on Apple too, but there isn’t much by comparison), if I wanna install a custom ROM, I can install it, if I wanna root the thing and sideline apps while I’m at it, I can, if I want to brick my phone…I’m an idiot, but I have that option. I can do none of that, or do some of it in a limited way, on an iphone.

Pretty much, I don’t like how unintuitive the UI is, how restricting the system feels to me, and the company’s overall anti consumer stance

  • Huh, today I learned about sea lioning. Neat!

I agree that people tend to romanticize thier side, even without meaning to sometimes. In this case, I was honestly just confused about the complaints, and when I basically got told I didn’t get some basic concept (no other info as to what said basic concept was), i was like “he’s probably doing this in bad faith but you never know” because hey, maybe I did miss something. I’m not perfect. So I stressed that i wasn’t trying to be a smartass or pick a fight while commenting. Still got told to figure it out when trying to ask for clarification and leaving on a civil note. shrug

I could even link ya the video where I commented so the context is shown

  • Even the “I believe in you” could seem kinda like the second one lol

You’re probably right that it can depend on the context (I even stated it myself), I’ve just never seen a “kind” “Figure it out for yourself” in the wild. IDK, I’m the type to explain it even if it’s stupid obvious, unless it’s something like “why is everyone mean to me after i insulted them and the thing they liked?” where it’s very obviously a troll, then I’ll be snarky and go “you tell me”

  • You’re not alone, tho I usually don’t deal with that. when someone tries that on me, unless it’s in a situation where they literally can’t move from that spot, I go “Ok, cool. YOU come here, then.” Why? Simple: you wanna show me something. when I need you for something, then I’ll walk my ass over to you and ask/show you what i need. Pretty reasonable ask to give me the same courtesy back, i think. Only one that’s exempt from that is my ma, everyone else is gonna get a variation of the above.

  • You don’t believe someone that’s a narcissist and egocentric as all hell can’t also be smart about thier public image? You should reconsider, because that’s pretty much what happened. And he isn’t the only one. Personally, I’ve always lived by a simple golden rule:

All those billionaires that wanna convince you that they’re “cool and not like the other billionaires”, they ever pull a Jimmy Carter and build houses for the poor, becoming a lecturer at a university, or do any other humanitarian work that requires them to physically bust thier ass working hard like the rest of us? No? Then they’re no different.

If you don’t wanna take the overwhelming documented evidence that shows he was always like that and didn’t magically become unhinged one day tho, by all means, believe what you want.
