  • Watched about the first half this morning before going to the store. Got to the point where the student of the year’s shirtless dad was lurking in the background and started getting interviewed. First, what a fucking weirdo. Gives off weird incest vibes.

My personal experience with DARE was fun when we were introduced in 5th grade. Got us away from normal class. I did win some essay contest on why drugs are bad mkay and got a frisbee which was cool. However I had to read the essay in front of the whole grade which I hated.

We got a tshirt for completing the program. I made it a cutoff at someone and made a point to rock it anytime I was trying a new drug in college.

  • So I’ve noticed spam comes in waves. My gmail account will go months and be more or less fine and then in a period of a week I’ll get several dozen spam emails like “HoMe DePoT PoWeR DrIlL WiNnER” and the like. I always report spam and block.

My hotmail account on the other hand. I stopped checking and migrated every important account to gmail because I was getting spamming by the dozen every single day.

  • I racked up $12k in credit card debt after college. It was the result of a low paying, dead end job (GameStop), wanting to be independent and live on my own, and no financial education beyond my parents telling the the very basics.

That all changed when I decided I didn’t want to live paycheck to paycheck the rest of my life. Got some licensing and a career type job, met my wife, and the rest is history.

I paid off my credit card debt within the first year at the job, we both paid off our student loan debt (totalling ~$90k within the first 5 years) and now the only debt we have is our mortgage which is fixed at 2.75%. We could pay it down rather aggressively if we wanted but at that rate we we’re simply maxing retirement accounts and putting the remainder into taxable investments instead.

Fuck credit card debt. I believe every high school in America should have a required financial literacy class. Not just balancing a checkbook, but how to build good credit, the dangera of credit card debt, predatory loans, the benefits of saving for retirement early, basic investment principals, and anything else that would make a young person financially literate early in life.

  • You see that a lot for sure. One show that stands out in my mind of continually moving the plot forward is Breaking Bad. The ‘villain’ changes throughout the show, Walt has an evolving relationship with Skylar and Walt Jr, and motives change as well for Walt and Jesse. Completely different show from beginning to end.

SPOILER: it’s a well known fact that season 1 was shortened due to the last writers strike and had that not happened Jesse would have been killed off at the end of the season. This show very well could have suffered the same fate OP prescribes to most shows since Jesse is so pivotal to the shows overall success. So maybe we should look for shows who’s first season is currently being cut short by this writer’s strike and that will be the next great show.

  • An honorable death. Has me thinking you die and you’re hanging out with other dead people in wherever people go when you die. You ask how everyone dies and the first guy goes “I got hit by a bus”, second guy goes “I was shot in an armed robbery”, and you go “I died inhaling bbq smoke”. You know those other two dudes gotta be pissed.
