Thank you for your comment, I was confused what people are complaining about (you’ve had to pay for carry on items since ~2008, which have always been different than a “personal item” which is like a backpack or tote bag that you can bring for free if you store under the seat in front of you). It sounded like people weren’t understanding what a personal item was vs a carry on. But if they are arbitrarily saying wheels, regardless of size, also determine personal item vs carryon, I can see the frustration.
But otherwise their policy has been like this for a super long time - pay for carry on, and if you pay at the gate they charge extra. Almost 20 years now.
That being said I hold a grudge against all airlines for charging you a fee to pick your seat. They used to let you just pick it as a perk for booking online. Now they even have to nickel and dime our fucking loved one’s emotional support while we pray that the plane doesn’t fucking fall apart and while we breathe in the germs of some stranger next to us. Airlines are assholes.
Eta: airline fun fact - the CIA used to own an airline (this is verified by the CIA’s website itself)
This. Justice shouldn’t be paywalled.
When I visited Vegas, my allergies flared up horrifically (am allergic to tobacco smoke). Did have my sub get beaten outside of the LINQ by 2 cop girls, pretty good
If you’re allergic to everything, it may interest you to look into mast cell activation or histamine intolerance. There’s also a theory in alternative medicine circles (and an entire Ray Peat forum which is simultaneously informative and nonsensical) about your fat-soluble vitamins which are involved with autoimmune/allergy issues and can be out of whack. And so their answer is to take larger amounts of fat soluble vitamins. This can be dangerous if done with animal derived sources of vitamin A, like your skin can start sloughing off and you get wicked nausea and diarrhea and headaches. Theoretically, these symptoms in the Ray Peat world mean you need more vitamins D, E, and K to balance the vitamin A toxicity effects. An imbalance of fat soluble vitamins (too much or too little of any of them) can contribute theoretically to certain types of diseases/conditions.
I have an issue with absorbing fats/food and my allergies are worse when I’m having flare ups, so I do see some merit in this theory. I have found that supplementing fat soluble vitamins, (+omega 3 and 9, and various other B vitamins and vitamin C, and zinc and iron and copper and selenium), has helped my allergies out a ton. I really really recommend that if you have systemic allergies like this, to see if supplements/vitamins help.
Ah sure, I can see the comedy of errors there
I was actually nearly kidnapped as a child in the 90s and have tried to contact investigators with tips previously to cases I believe are related - https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disappearance_of_Morgan_Nick
Afaik, they never followed up on my lead and at the time I was unable to contact her mother and idk if it’s ethical really for me to contact the family vs investigators. My experience with contacting investigators with leads is that it’s pointless. Especially for a huge case like Maxwell, the tips get lost in the noise.
I will say public analysis of crimes tends to be done well. I’m not talking about reddit and the Boston bomber. I’m talking about the Don’t Fuck With Cats people, and the people in Portland who forced PPB to investigate a serial killer after 5 women showed up dead - they initially said no, it’s unrelated, and then caught Jesse Calhoun. I’m talking about the retired investigators and volunteers who work missing persons/jane doe cases in their spare time in dedicated forums to help identify dead people (I used to volunteer for these programs until my dreams were haunted with dead faces).
It helps a LOT to get public awareness if you want police to do their jobs.
I mean, their victims deserve justice. The families of the victims deserve to know what happened if that is something that happened. Kinda absolutely wild that you are saying, “So what if they trafficked people?” Lol. Kinda matters.
If you would like, please go ahead and try to find them and ask them. Thanks for suggesting that on your part, seems natural you should be the one to do it since you suggested it.
I was looking for the term “emotional incest” and not “parentification” earlier, two very very closely related concepts. Basically, it means he made his kid his wife. Often this is done before physical incest occurs. As someone who speaks with survivors a bit, Robert Maxwell’s relationship with Ghilsaine does seem incestuous and likely sexual given Ghilsaine’s later involvement with raping minors. Showing “favoritism” like that is a pretty big sign because she’s not a favorite, she’s his wife.
Abuse victims have 2 choices when faced with their abuse: agree or disagree. The vast majority of abuse victims disagree with their abuse and do not go on to perpetuate it. However, I do not think Ghilsaine was one of them, clearly.
Yes, she did try to use “I was abused,” as sympathy for her sentencing, that’s in the linked articles in the OP. It doesn’t excuse her actions over decades and as a 50 year old.
Thank you for sharing what you remember. If you see the title of this thread, my question wasn’t asking if you personally felt like this was true. It was asking if anyone had more sources about this aspect of Robert Maxwell’s life so I can read more info about these people he supposedly helped.
Right, this would be speculation/fact-finding to get more info on this aspect of Robert Maxwell (his connections to moving at risk people around). Imo it’s super weird that he has these ties to “refugees” yet no refugee has come forward to thank him? And it’s actually pretty hard to find articles about it? Yet it seems to somehow be somewhat common knowledge as referenced by people alive then.
He named his boat after Ghislaine. Reeks of parentification/making her his spouse. He had 9 children total so it’s super weird.
Epstein is known for being a fraudster and a thief. Including by his buddy Les Wexner, who claims Epstein “misappropriated funds.” And he was fired by Bear Stearns for similar issues. Although it’s likely Les simply was giving Epstein that money for trafficking, which is the majority of Epstein’s financial crimes - money laundering. Which is probably why he liked Trump so much, because per the 2018 documentary Active Measures, Trump specialized in money laundering.
I think Ghilsaine would keep quiet as this information not only implicates her, but her dad and entire family. It does nothing to benefit her and may cause her to have more charges brought against her. Critical thinking and analyzing public health risks like human traffickers isn’t “voyeurism.”
It would be better to microdose lithium if you really don’t want to be high imo. 5-20mg range, can be intermittent (doses for bipolar are in the 100mg range and up). There’s already lithium in some water supplies and in foods like potatoes, so a small amount in a microdose normally doesn’t affect anyone negatively.

I will say over time your body will adjust to cannabis so if you microdose at night consistently before bed, you’ll just sleep it off anyway and eventually it won’t even get you high anymore.

No wonder Cheech&Chong, Willie Nelson, Snoop, and Lily Tomlin seem pretty young at heart/mind for their age
I do not mean mixing pseudoscience with science. I mean that traditional Chinese medicine, which modern Chinese medicine is based on, if you would bother to do even the tiniest bit of research on the history of medicine, is based on a system of give and take, ying/yang, of flow, and with Qi. This philosophical basis means that they are less binary with their definitions and allow for more gradient thinking. Given that living is a delicate neurochemical and microbe balance, a give and take - it seems much more of an accurate view of the body and this has benefitted them a lot. They cured HIV and herpes with CRISPR-CAS9. It’s genuinely incredible.
China, India, Arabic countries, and then finally Greece and Western countries all influenced each other with medicine because they were on the silk road. The first medical compendiums ever made were made by Arabic scholars over hundreds of years, because they were in the center of all of this information. They also invented the first hospitals, and due to Islam’s values with charity, were meant to be free to use. These are valid scientific endeavors that enabled more research and a greater variety of case studies. It’s why hospitals to this day have wings for roughly each area of the body - eg doctors who read the section of the compendium on eyes would be eye doctors in the eye wing. It wasn’t expected in Arabic medicine that every doctor would treat every condition because the literature was so vast.
The body doesn’t discretely separate out organs though. It doesn’t say “oh well that’s a kidney issue so I can’t hurt the heart.” Western medicine tends to inappropriately segment the body into discrete parts which are actually related. I have personally made connections in the medical field knowing that this is the blind spot in Western medicine, and when I look at studies to confirm my hunches - China did the research. This is what I mean about them having an advantage. We’d have to bring real philosophy back into science if we want to catch up.
Yup, Beijing has some of the best bioengineering papers I’ve seen lately regarding gene editing and microbiology, even some biochemistry. Chinese medical philosophy trends towards holistic systems, versus Western medicine which looks at discrete conditions. So China has made a lot of advancements in areas where this flexible thinking is benefiting them and is a more accurate way of looking at biology.
It was such a good performance
Or Khashoggi?
No, I mean acoustically because I’m referencing a meme, ya nerd.
They provoked the bite. You should see the video of how they ransacked his room and house to get the squirrel. It was likely terrifying for anyone, let alone a tiny prey animal. Most people familiar with proper wildlife handling should be able to put a little fat pet squirrel in a cage. That it bit them was their fault.
Whether it’s justified that both the raccoon and the squirrel were put down - imo, not really, no. Laws allow for it, but it’s very unlikely squirrels have rabies and again the bite was provoked.
But also, didn’t we all watch Tiger King? Can we stop giving these influencers views who use animals like props for money? It’s disgusting. It’s also gross when it’s a disabled person or a child.
