It’s a serious virus. People don’t realize. Just because most people fight it off like a flu doesn’t mean is was as easy on your body for it to do so. Imagine if we had a president that didn’t treat it as a joke. Might be a few million people still alive.

People don’t get it. The inflammatory process can do these sort of thing to any organ or system, or parts of them.

People got a thing called COVID Toe. This is where you and every person already has some fungus that live on their feet and which gets into the skin and toenails. Maybe you have a little yellowing of the toenails or you’re just “prone to athletes foot.”

Then you get COVID and suddenly your immune system is working overtime. The fungus starts to multiply faster and spreads more aggressively. Your toes start to get itchy and red, more than usual. They swell. They yellow. Then they start to crack and ooze, possibly requiring surgical debridement or in the most severe cases, such as where the patient already had diabetes affecting their peripheral nerves, amputation of the foot to prevent necrosis and sepsis. Imagine dying from athletes foot because your immune system was overwhelmed fighting a coronavirus.

Orrrrr, stay with me here, 50,000 people is an insignificant number of people in the context of preventing a greater war with Iran that would directly kill millions and millions of people. Trump has openly endorsed that war, so doing a thing to help elect Trump is not in any sense a strategy aimed at protecting the lives and rights of anyone in the middle east. On the other hand, standing by our ally and avoiding that war gives the western world a modicum of stability and a base of democratic governance to work with for the next hundred years. Don’t talk about the lives of anyone if you’re planning to help elect Trump because he is the actual supporter of genocide. It took Gaza one year to see 50,000 dead. You’re talking about “let’s elect a guy that wants to see 50,000 people die every week.” Shove it. You’re lying to yourself and to everyone here.

The war in Gaza has displaced what, two or three million people. A war between Israel and Iran will displace tens of millions of people. North Africa, East Africa, probably West Africa, the Mediterranean nations including Spain, France, and Italy, Greece, obviously, Eastern Europe and the Balkans, Western Asia, and South Central Asia including the Indian subcontinent. They don’t have enough stress already for you? There’s already a war refugee crisis from people fleeing war and turmoil in Syria and Yemen.

When I used to work in a prosecutor’s office, in a situation like this where the person has a clean record and comes in for an expired license, as long as you renewed the license before your court date, we would just dismiss the charges as long as you’re respectful of the court and the process. Dress well. If court opens at 9:00 a.m., get there at 8:30 a.m.

You will see defense attorneys milling about. You could ask one of them where to go to talk to a prosecutor. Usually prosecutors would start calling cases at 8:30 a.m. to make deals and see what defenses people are going to raise before the judge began calling the docket.

Just talk about how squeaky clean your record is and how you didn’t know your license was expired, how you went and got it renewed as soon as you found out, and you’d appreciate it if they’d dropped on your promise never to meet again.
