  • Ah yes a lot of bad history happened so more bad history is simply meh and not a threat. You’re truly saying that a narcissistic dementia patient who dreams of being Putin with an out of control biased Supreme Court and full immunity is not a notable threat?

pretend a facist sociopath from a white majority country never left a trail of destruction in their wake sounds like revisionist history.

This has never happened in US history and that is notable given what the US can accomplish these days (and consider it won’t just be the US when Trump teams up with his dictator lovers). You think it was bad before? Does it make you feel good to paint this threat as just more of the same?

What a take, especially since this article is simply talking about how the ramifications will spread to generations, nobody is saying how this is THE greatest threat ever and anything else wasn’t shit.

Who are you even responding to

  • Yeah absolutely.

I would go a step further and point to how a lot of companies these days supplement their workforce with low skill contractors from places like India who are like 13 hours ahead, do not have any actual investment/commitment to the project/company.

Why pay high prices for competent developers that can work alongside each other when you can have a just few competent ones and outsource the rest for those competent workers to corral, right? 🙄

Generally this results in more work for the full time devs. When you ask for senior developers and get a team of ”seniors” that write code like juniors…. That’s just more work for the full time devs. Ask me how I know.

Maybe I just need to stop working for Fortune 500s

If you actually watch the entire thing, it’s clear that yeah it’s not something to cancel over but it’s also worth saying. Mr. Beast’s brand is all about two things: it’s all real and viewers (just by subscribing, interacting) can win a lot of cash or items worth a lot of cash. The next thing to understand is Mr. Beast’s main target demographic is children, and that never plays well when it comes to these kinds of things.

Mr. Beast would market his candy bar as more healthy and also if kids buy them they can gamble for a ticket to get a chance to be in a video and win yadda yadda yadda. He says part of his motivation is to defeat obesity, yet his chocolate candy bar had twice the amount of sugar then the competitor he mentions. He isn’t altruistic, he’s cashing in on these kids and using a FALSE moral high ground to do it!

The more you watch the clearer the picture becomes, and no it’s not shocking; Mr. Beast is running a company to make money. Cool, no worries. It’s not so cool however when it is based off of manipulating kids. SO MUCH OF HIS VIDEOS are edited, faked, scripted. SO MANY OF THE WINNERS are friends, family, and employees of the company even though it is advertised as random viewers. The editing is done in part to preserve this charade. Later in the video he talks about Mr. Beast wanting to participate in known scams and having to be talked out of them, it’s pretty gross (especially keeping in mind the target demo.)

It is essentially reality TV for kids, but this doesn’t end at the TV show. It stretches into these kid’s candy, the fast food (mr beast burger), the lotteries and gambling, it’s a bad look. Mr. Beast is the wrong guy with the right amount of money and it shows. It’s weird to see so many people jumping to defend this extremely wealthy person who takes advantage of his viewer base of children.

If this video wasn’t enough for you, try this one next, FAR worse: https://discuss.whatever.social/r/TikTokCringe/comments/1edezhy/the_lowdown_on_mr_beast_beast_games_for_those_out/

  • Yes absolutely, the parameter even if not in a strongly typed language should be a specific number and the unit should be implied. Overload the method to support different units if necessary or provide a unit as an additional parameter instead of forcing the method to parse the string for any unit type hints that may or may not be there

  • I can accept your second point, but in your PR I would absolutely request you to rename the method to isYoung, and then in making said comment I would then ask… what value isYoung providing, and where is the line between young and !young ultimately for trying to get the dev to reevaluate the design. It’s hyper specific in an obtuse manner and I think it hints at design flaws especially with the perspective of product evolution
