The GOP seems to be so used to just being used as a “boogeyman” by the dems, that they don’t even try to govern anymore. 'Merica is fucked.
I tell terrible jokes.

Ah ok, not as cartoonishly evil as I thought, but still pretty awful.
Maybe I misunderstood it a bit, but it seems like any business that goes above the minimum required by state law could be punished for it.
But…why? Seems like the goal is to just have all their blue collar workers die of heat stroke. Doesn’t really seem very profitable to me, but I’m not a genius capitalist pulling the strings of the US government, so I clearly just am too plebian to understand the benefits.
He’s 6. He doesn’t even understand the concept of death properly yet.
My thoughts exactly. People seem to forget that kids will behave like kids. Kids are bratty, they’ll act entitled, they’ll chuck tantrums. They behave childishly. This has no bearing on their generation being a sign of the “end times” or whatever. They just need to grow up and mature and they’ll be fine.
Yeah, this just screams “Rich kid who uses daddy’s credit card for everything and doesn’t understand the value of anything.”
It feels pathological honestly. He’s so damn mad that even his hardcore fans (the few that were left) were telling him to chill out on the Sarkeesian content. And he was so desperate for reasons to hate her he had to start making them up.
I would guess that the techbro “genius” who came up with this idea is rich enough to afford an ambulance and didn’t even consider that people might need to drive somewhere in an emergency.
Exactly. And it’s the same thing when they fearmonger about Chinese companies like TenCent. Sure, tiktok may or may not collect data (same as every other company) but I’d be a hell of a lot more worried about a US based company or a local company using that data maliciously. Even if I did say the magic anti-china copypasta spell, it’s not like China’s government would have any ability to do anything about it. Whereas if I said things that the US government considered threatening, I could very well have cops knocking on my door, what with my country being a US vassal and all.
Remember: If you see someone shoplifting, no you didn’t.
I’ve heard them talk about it a lot. It’s always in the context of government surveillance. They make sure to point out that the bad guy countries have mass surveillance run by the government. When private corporations are watching people’s every move it’s just freedom in action.
I was much happier before I learned that they called their default colour “blurple.” This hurts my soul.
Always the games, I’ve got no interest in most other streamer content. If they do youtube content I’ll usually watch that as well, I’m not at all interested in their “lifestyle” or whatever, they’re just background noise so I can work without hearing my neighbours arguing through the paper thin walls.
It depends very much on the streamer, as a (probably) old geezer compared to the average twitch streamer the really loud and obnoxious ones are just unpleasant and horrible. I like having streaming content in the background when I work though, as an alternative to music or podcasts sometimes. Having someone who isn’t hamming things up and is just playing a game they like with commentary is nice background noise, like having a housemate doing something in the background. I like very “low energy” stuff though, so I might not be the best representative of this, and the sorts of people I watch rarely beg for donations, usually just a little message like “hey, this helps me pay the bills, so donate if you’ve got money to spare” kind of thing. (I am pretty biased though, as I also rely on donations from supporters for my income)
“Art is not defined by the means of production”
I will punch a removed in the face I swear. It fucking is. It’s a skill like any other and his definition of why it “isn’t” is literally how we determine is something “is” a commodity and subject to the labour theory of value.
Just because art is worth different amounts to different people doesn’t mean it is worthless. These techbros shitting all over my profession with their generic AI art that can make like, 3-4 generic anime looking faces and absolutely nothing original make my blood boil. Probably a good thing I run in very different circles to these fuckers. I’m not a violent man, but these are the sort of fuckers I would get into a fistfight at a party with.
Conspiracy theories (and conservatism in general really) are kind of like “pressure release valves” for capitalist society, a way for steam to be released without the whole system blowing up.
These are people who can fell that something is wrong, very wrong, but lack the education/critical thinking skills/environment/time and energy to actively figure out what. Conspiracy theories are the junk food version of leftist ideas. It’s a quick, easy scapegoating of some group or another (real or imagined) and blaming them for all of society’s ills.
My own personal conspiracy theory is that conspiracy theories are heavily pushed by the US establishment and CIA in order to distract the people. This is why they always lead further right and emphasise hyper-individualism instead of leaning left and emphasising group action.
It doesn’t matter to libs whether or not something is actually true, only whether they can find some technicality to dismiss information they don’t like. Even if their own analysis ultimately agrees with something they disagree with, they will ignore their own findings to preserve their own beliefs.
I worry about how many of those play it because most of the playerbase is under 18.
One day soon it will sink into the sea and all will be well.
