  • That makes me wonder.

I don’t, or rather, can’t picture things in my mind.

I always thought that phrase was just a phrase, it had some archaic reference but the phrase remained or some shit.

Nope. Turns out I just lack that ability.

That being said, for those of us who can’t or just don’t picture things, would our pupils adjust the same way?

  • As a Texan, I concur. I’ve talked about it.

It either falls upon deaf ears, or it’s quietly agreed to and pushed into the background so as not to cause waves.

When polite discourse doesn’t work, it leaves people looking for alternatives to talk.

Sadly, being humans, violence inevitably is proposed at some point.

I don’t condone violence, but Martin Luther King Jr. made a salient point, “A riot is the voice of the unheard.”

The grand experiment that was America is crumbling before our eyes, and I am unsure if we as Americans can make things better without it getting worse first, and ultimately becoming something else in its place.

  • The band I’ve seen live the most often.

From a packed bar that was standing room only, to tours with massive names (at the time) like Slayer and Lamb of God.

They always brought it in live performances.

And then if you had the luck to interact with them like people on the street, they were generally super chill, though Alexi did go off on Rupeé (spelling?) on my behalf.

Rupeé was drunk as hell, talking to fans, staggered into me. No harm, no foul, all good. Then Alexi starts chewing him out in a mix of English and Finnish until he realized I was chill about it all. That was a good night.

    RIP Alexi.

  • Yep, that kinda social pressure can be difficult.

I live in the south, and I’ve learned to keep my mouth shut on a variety of topics.

While the truth is important, I’m not gonna change these peoples minds. Expending that energy, and self inflicting negative emotions is just not worth it.

Hell, when I was much younger I tried to convince a 16 year old coworker that he should absolutely “spend time” with the girl from his school (also worked there, she was objectively attractive, though too young for me) and they went to talk. He wound up shrieking turn or burn at her over and over, while leaving the building.

Yeah, her family was just a different flavor of christian.

Not even raging hormones can counter some brainwashing.

  • I briefly worked at a convienice store that sold lotto tickets, and people should be aware that the default is the smaller lump sum. The operators have to change a couple things when they get the ticket made.

However most people do a random “quick pick” over filling out the associated forms to select individual numbers, pay out type, etc.

That being said, mathematically if you do win, and take the lump sum and invest it positively, it can out “earn” the staggered payments, resulting in more money.

However, the mathematically inclined rarely play lottery type games, I mean they give you the odds on the ticket.

You’re more likely to be hit by lightning on a clear day than winning the jackpot.

But hey, a couple bucks, some wishful thinking, and its cheap entertainment for a short while imagining what to do with the winnings.

I realize the odds are totally stacked against me, but when it gets to 1b I’ll buy a ticket, just on the off chance, lol.
