Kamala Harris has said that she currently has no desire to re-enter “the system” of American politics because it is “broken”.

On Thursday night the Democratic party’s defeated presidential nominee, who replaced Joe Biden late in the 2024 campaign after he dropped his re-election bid, gave her first interview since losing the election to Donald Trump, talking to Stephen Colbert on The Late Show.

After she announced she will not run for the governorship of California just a day earlier, Harris told the TV show that it was about something more “basic” than whether she wanted to run for something else instead – with the subtext being whether she will attempt a White House run again in 2028.

When respect is given over caution, it’s used to manipulate those who would give it so freely. When the question is about choosing to respect our voting process OR protect it, there’s now nothing left to protect. Through naivety, evil prevails. Sorry if that sounds too narcissitic. What is even left in our system to be narcissitic about, let alone respectable?

The Smithsonian? Kennedy Center? PBS? CBS? How about those cuts to Vaccine research? Medicare? Social Security?

How about all the major cabinet positions now being held by TV and podcast personalities making us more of a Kakistocracy than a Democracy?

You want to give that respect? I want it to be fucking worth respecting.

Seeing as it all wasn’t worth protecting in exchange for a basic recall in an election with someone that’s cheated twice before. That’s not respect. That’s naive at best. Stupid at worst.
