NEW LAYTON
Wow, missed that Metroid Prime 4 had gotten a name. Is there an actual release date? I have had this on order from Amazon since 2019, each year it has shifted to Dec 31st of the year.
For now they’ve only said “2025”. Some folks are assuming it’ll be a launch title for the Switch successor as well, like with Breath of the Wild on Wii U/Switch. Apparently we might be getting re-releases for 2 and 3 on the Switch before then, but it’s all speculation so far.
The original lead designer on Prime 1 to 3 once said MP3 would be very hard to remake specifically because of all the built-in wiimote controls. Supposedly they’d have to redo a lot from scratch.
Can’t say I get what the problem is exactly but maybe the fact it relied on IR pointing makes it hard to translate or even emulate through gyro input.
Skyward Sword for example was already a gyro controlled game (it used motion plus instead of IR pointing) so maybe it was simpler to adapt.
My guess is Switch 2 shares enough architecture with OG Switch that games for one run on the other. This is why Nintendo has been going after Switch emulators - they’re already better than Switch 2 at being Switch 2.
We will be one of the few who get to buy it at 60 bucks. Next time it’s available to pre-order on Amazon, it’ll be $70.
At this rate you would have been better off investing $60!
It don’t get charged until it ships. I had the same situation with Tears of the Kingdom.
Pokemon’s wireframe city looks like shit. What are they even on? Any internet 3d animator could have made that and people would probably say it looks boring and uninspired. I’m curious to see what the cultist level fans have to say about it. Personally I still don’t think they ever have or will outdo gold and silver. None of the following games could hold me for more than a couple of gyms.
Metroid I didn’t watch the video because I haven’t finished 3 and was planning to run through all of them but I hope it doesn’t disappoint.
The Pokemon Company has been absolutely awful lately. I really wish Nintendo would light a fire under TPC’s ass, because the last few generations of mainline games have been uninspired, empty games riddled with performance issues that are inexcusable for a $60+ game from a long-standing brand. It’s sad to see the garbage that today’s fans are expected to enjoy.
I don’t know about uninspired, Scarlet/Violet is a great game at its core. It’s just a shame that it was so obviously rushed and the resulting technical imperfections overshadow the gameplay for many.
Yeah, that’s been my issue with the series since Sun & Moon, though I’m sure a lot of people probably felt it a bit earlier than I did. It feels like the art and direction teams are still performing very strongly, but the actual development side of things is where everything falls apart. There’s no reason why a Switch can run Doom at 30 FPS but it can’t play a Pokemon game above 10.
Being able to play co-op and the single player storyline at the same time is so cool. It’s something I always wanted in the series; the ability to enjoy everything with friends without losing any of the single player features. I played Scarlet/Violet with my girlfriend at launch and it was a very fun way to enjoy the game with her whilst also being able to play at my own pace. But unfortunately the visuals really annoyed her and she lost interest. It’s just not that fun exploring a world as barren and ugly as the one in Scarlet/Violet.
That’s a bummer, and I’m totally with your girlfriend on that one. It hurts, because we grew up with this series and want so much for it to be good.
The Pokemon Company doesn’t make games. Gamefreak does and they have been awful for a long long time.
I’m not going to say the game will look good, knowing how Legends Arceus turned out, but maybe wait for them to release a single screenshot of the game before making assumptions about what it will look like?
