    Haven’t had a chance to read the article, but I’m guessing part of the problem is that us pesky humans live in all the forests and get in the way of the little flames.

      Not at all. We kept the underbrush from burning in small amounts for so long that the forests are sitting on piles and piles of dry tinder just waiting to be set ablaze.

          Only dampening of the forests is being considered at this time.

            How about very large icecubes?

            They do have a dampening effect when supplied with sufficient heat. . .
