Train-based travel is already usually more expensive than going by car in germany, you’d think that there’s enough money for decent wages.
Doesn’t have much to do with the topic, since this strike isn’t about long-distance train travel.

When factoring in all the costs associated with owning a car, public transport is usually quite a bit cheaper than private cars, even in Germany.
