Centrists demonstrating once again that if they don’t get 100% of everything they want at all times, they take the “vote blue no matter who” mask off to reveal what was always there: “party unity my ass.”

Their reason for being is to keep control of the party, winning elections is secondary. They are serving the donor class, playing good cop to Republican bad cop like this is 1990, even while the Republicans are now playing King of the Hill if not hitler.

They must either think r’s threats are perfunctionary and they will not follow through, or idk what. If they were systematically rigging elections for decades as r’s project, they would have to be punished. No assurances they have received from r’s or rw power brokers or billionaires will stop the r’s from persecuting them if they get absolute power, yet they still seemingly do not get it and think they will be fine and kill populist reformers in the cradle and gang up and quash any real reformer that gets in.

I do not expect moral behavior out of Democrats, but I still blame Republicans.

Democrats’ jobs are to be better than Republicans. They could spit in my face and steal my wallet and still be better than the traitorous tyrants right now. What I can’t understand is how anyone in this country views the Republicans as being useful for anything. They allegedly pursue causes like being anti-abortion and supporting Christian values, and yet in practice are very anti-children and anti-Christian.

The point however, regardless of if you are willing to surrender our high standards of living to the rich under Democrats that do not restore our position to before the Republicans, is that by not being popular, and not instituting that reform, the Democrats lose and allowed the Republicans to win.

We all know what the electorate is, that being better than the other guy is not enough to win, so why do we support running people only being better than the other guy that cannot win? It is very simple.

All true; and whose fault is that?

It’s not the “Democrats’ fault”. After all, their goal isn’t to win - it’s to make themselves just popular enough to make victory plausible and garner donations. 45% of the vote is a “victory” for them. They don’t need to be more popular. They don’t need to push anti-billionaire sentiments when “same old” policies get them to that 45%. They uncork the champagne when election anxiety brings donations in, not when they win those elections.

But for that to get to 45% requires 55% of the country to be voting for “FUCK MINORITIES, FUCK HEALTHCARE, FUCK SOCIAL SECURITY, FUCK OUR ALLIES, give EVERYTHING to billionaires, no tax on tips woohoo.” That leaves a very obvious direction for improvement.

We don’t “support” leaving things shit, we just think that’s better than actively making things worse. Of course, we’re also sentient humans capable of thought which is better than the 55%.

That motherfucker knows it’s impossible for a third party to succeed, and that’s due in large part to how Democrats use their power to suppress third parties.

NYC is essentially a country unto itself, both financially and culturally. I hope Zohran wins and actually does what he says, because if he does, it could wreck the existing order a little. I think it’s more likely Zohran will win, realize all the money he can make for himself and his family in his new position, and play ball. Hopefully I’m wrong about that.

Madami could be the start of an avalanch, if we organized even a little, to find and groom candidates to primary dems, candidates fitted to district not all madami style but all reform minded and aggressive.

Like have public groups for it, but spin off private groups that cooperate where the agents of the polits cannot interfere. We could do that on this fedisphere perhaps, or connected to it.

Call Republicans the Fascist party, call most dems the Social Republicans, and put Bernie, Mamdani and the rest in a Liberal Party.
