The Coens are probably my favorite filmmakers, with True Grit being my favorite of theirs. It has an amazing cast, sublime landscapes, and an incredible revenge/coming-of-age narrative in which all the characters have believable motivations and clever dialogue.

It’s one of O Brother, Where Art Thou?, Raising Arizona, and The Big Lebowski.
I like nearly all of their filmography, but their silly shit is my favorite. Barton Fink is underrated though!
Raising Arizona is the perfect silly/earnest combination; it’s my favorite Nicolas Cage movie.
