I meant this Nintendo video, not USB one.
This Nintendo video is about the USB issue. So you troll without even watching what it’s all about…

[In addition to my other reply:]
So the video is essentially saying that Nintendo requiring docks be their proprietary basic one and not supporting third-party docks with more features could be a sign of companies like Apple, Samsung, and others making their USB/Thunderbolt ports proprietary?
Doubt it.
Yeah. Apple, Google, etc. are gatekeppers according to the EU, Nintendo currently isn’t. So they can do it without pushback, others can’t.
the Switch OS may have started as an Android fork (I’m not sure how true this was at release — prior to the Switch launch it was reported that they were forking Android)
What? That has never been true. The Switch OS is a continuation of the 3DS OS which is why Yuzu is a fork of Citra. Switch uses a few Android libraries here and there and also some FreeBSD code in the kernel.
Seems you confuse Nintendo with Huawei and their HarmonyOS which used to be an Android fork.
I just got the Switch 1 OLED 11 months ago
So you’re telling yourself that the Switch 2 is a minor update because it makes you feel better…
This video didn’t bring anything new to the table
Unless somebody (you?) posted another video showing the output of such an USB analyzer here, it does bring something new to the table. It’s definitively 1000% more insightful than your “LTT, ewww” comment.
Switch 2 is a massive upgrade over the original. There are business practices to criticize (key cards, no OLED screen, paid cloud saves, this dock) but to claim that it’s just a minor upgrade is to say it bluntly quite ignorant. Other recent handhelds could take a hint regarding power consumption and weight.
The people who put it at the top clearly are not using FF on Android themselves.
I wished I was more into Zelda. I played an (now outdated) demo and the look and feel was very close to A Link to the Past.
Btw, the publisher said on Bluesky that they’re aiming to bring this to Switch 2 with mouse controls but that post was made a while ago and I couldn’t find the post anymore.
The pandemic is over but the virus isn’t gone. You should get yearly shots like with the regular influenza flu. That said, I live in a country with health care and both shots are free.
The courts already affirmed that the president can do anything while in power.
That’s a problem with most ports. It’s a “new” game on Switch
There is no mandate by Nintendo that ports must cost 70 Euro, the 3rd parties simply follow the example set by Nintendo. They could sell it for 50 but chose not to.
People who have more than one gaming system have little reason to buy Switch versions of their games. Of the announced Switch 2 games, I already have MK World and looking forward to Metroid Prime 4. Everything else I’m looking forward to, I rather play on Steam Deck where deals are much better and I get stuff like cloud saves for free.
This is still very positive news for the long term viability of the Switch 2 because having a solid install base means third parties have more incentive to port games to the system.
If multiplatform games continue to be more expensive on Switch2 than on other systems, they’ll probably not sell that well anyway. People usually buy Nintendo consoles for Nintendo games. 3rd parties need to earn their place.
Example Cyberpunk:
Switch2
PS5
PC/GOG
Wasn’t alive yet
No way for me to tell without any such information.
You got a Virtual Boy but skip this?

Switch 1 games could also support them. A recent story claimed generic mice would just work. That’s false.

It is still just using regular USB-C. I took inspiration from https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Btwqt-w85Vk and used a similar cable to connect other devices of mine to the Switch 2 dock and they just work. Switch 2 seems to check the hardware ID. I’m sure if there is some kind of way to fake the hardware ID, Switch 2 would just work with other docks as well.
I can later do an “lsusb” command on Linux using the dock2 and read its hardware ID. The one I currenty use just says xxxxxxxx USB Type-C Digital AV Adapter
I’ve got a USB-c dock and it handled Ethernet and power for my 2 totally fine
Are you still using it in handheld mode? It’s not really docked when you hold it in your hand. I tried to connect three completely different docks to two different monitors, all worked fine with Switch 1 and my PC, none worked with Switch 2.
and I think it reported the keyboard although I didn’t test it.
There recently was a story that USB mice would work just like joycon in mouse mode. They don’t. Games have to explicitly support them, just like before.
It’s different SKUs on Switch 1 and 2 and the Switch2 version costs 10 Euro more.
