Damn, the full meltdown!
Damn, the full meltdown!
I was a lowly bottom tier asshole at the time (doing senior work, just didn’t get the title) so managers would just put shit on my calendar and assume i would clear everything for their pet project. Then they got upset with me when that didn’t happen.
Once, i had an entire day double booked (plus multiple hours before and after my working hours) and one hour in particular was quadruple booked. People were shouting at me all day about how I wasn’t showing up to their meetings, but like… you could see my calendar when you put those appointments on there. That’s kind of on you.
I got a talking to from my boss but they didn’t reprimand me or anything, it was just “managing these kinds of things is an important part of the job”. Eh. They did not pay me enough.
That shouldn’t be too bad if you understand systemd though, right? Or is there something weird i’m missing? Do you have an example guide that illustrates the problem?
That really is a good piece of documentation.
Race was always a flawed idea. To be honest i think it’s not that bad in a fantasy setting but it can also lead to some weird and uncomfortable stuff and i don’t think there’s a good reason to keep it.
On the flip side, “ancestries” or backgrounds or whatever are a lot more flexible as a concept and let you do some cool stuff.
Huh, having separate append permission is interesting. i didn’t realize that was an option.
Big part, for sure.
Yeah the common factor in all their games having fucked up communities is them.
Riot Games is incredibly good at generating asshole players and incredibly bad at doing anything about them. I’ve never had players on my own team intentionally try to throw the game as hard as i had in Riot’s games. It’s not only the low level players, either.
It’s incredible that this is such a big point of debate. This kind of thing is really ignoring the material reality of racism in favor of the minutiae. Let’s have some 40 acres and a mule, then we can start talking about race conditions.
You should really be using a pre commit hook to catch secrets. Admittedly it may not have caught this, but manual review is (clearly) not always sufficient.
Yeah, like, “how did it get this was”? Well it wasn’t easy, it took a lot of hard work.
There’s a high likelihood it was Russian or Chinese work tbh. That’s a pretty reasonable take.
“lolcow”, damn you’ve got all the right wing dog whistles don’t you?
“Glowies” is fascist signaling. I don’t have a good non paywalled explanation so have this, i guess.
Looks like they’re trying to compete with AI spam.
Either that or trying to push their staff to use AI without saying it.
Ruby: No, it has been redefined as the number 5 so buckle your seatbelts, kiddos, cuz shit’s about to get wild!
It’s fucked up the pizza delivery people are more professional than cops but here we are. It’s sadly a more dangerous job than being a police officer, too. At least, on average.
Heinlein’s “all you zombies” is an early version of this.
In terms of biology, it’s extremely rare for humans to have fully functioning sets of both reproductive systems. The reproductive physiology develops from the same parts so it either develops “male”, “female”, or (more common than people think) somewhere in between but not “both”. A clone may or may not even develop in the same way.
One other possibility, though also very rare. is near-identical twins. If twins have the same genetics (in other words, they’re identical twins) but have intersex conditions that result in different reproductive development it’s conceivable that they could reproduce with each other. It’s uncommon to be fertile incongruous with your genetics, though, so again: this would be extremely unlikely.
That said, in a sci-fi context there are some options. Biological hermaphroditism is possible in animals, though there aren’t any vertebrates on Earth, so conceivably an alien species could encounter this problem.
Advanced medicine could also build people a new reproductive system and implant it, giving them the counterpart they lacked.
Of course, in that case, advanced medicine may also be able to give you someone else’s reproductive genetics (ex, implanted sperm or eggs) and thus effectively sidestep the genetic problems. I’m imagining a particularly narcissistic person getting a gender-flipped clone of themself and using someone else’s genetic material to have a kid with themself but also avoid the shallow gene pool problem.
Of course, you don’t need to go that far. If you’re female (or have those parts anyway) you can just do IVF. Don’t even need to clone yourself, then.
Anyway, this is getting a little silly.
