tamal3@lemmy.worldto You Should Know@lemmy.world•YSK: Non-violent protests are 2x more likely to succeed and no non-violent movement that has involved more than 3.5% of a population has ever failed2·25 days agoMeaning they aren’t somehow making money off whatever you’re protesting…
My city has had good turnout for a few protests in the last few months, but yesterday was the first time we took to the streets and caused a few traffic jams. I know it isn’t much, but it is an escalation. It was like scratching an itch, and I’m ready for whatever’s next.
Also realize that there are different places you might feel comfortable driving. For example, I try to avoid driving through large towns and cities as much as I can. I’d rather someone else drive. There’s just too much going on while watching for cars, traffic cues, as well as pedestrians.
On the flip side, my brother hit another car on his very first driving lesson and never drove again! He’s happily living in a city with public transportation :-) just make sure you’re able to get around without relying on others.

Edit: I JUST FIGURED IT OUT. YOU, CHILD OF THE 90s, IT’S BECAUSE HAMPSTER DANCE WAS SPELLED WITH A P. We are fine, we are sane, but we are still recovering from the 90s Internet. Oh, in so many ways. I can’t believe it took me 30+ years to realize the origin of the P.
Red at the ends just like the poison ivy he’s re-growing next to.

For me it is important to maintain momentum, so if my track record is getting a little iffy I’ll be more vigilant about going out and doing the thing and not putting it off.
Agreed, “cloak” feels bigger and heavier than “shawl.” Cloaks aren’t necessarily specific though: you might get coats, or ponchos, or shawls.
Maybe search “shawl cloak”?!
Edit: The user below has it! Search “rechteckmantel.”

I wish I went every few days, but I love about 20 min away and it’s not my favorite place in the world. For some reason I always make a list even though I buy basically the same things. My partner never uses a list when he goes.
Red peppers, tomatillos, fibrous cereal, milk and soy milk, yogurt/cottage cheese, tortilla chips, a bag of grapefruit when in season, wasa crackers, hummus, eggs / bread / tortillas when low, and whatever I’m making for lunch for the week. Sometimes salad stuff.

*I have some familiarly with Boston, the land of “chowda,” which is not know to contain cats.

Would not Mexico Spanish be an obvious choice to teach?7·4 months agoI had a teacher from Spain for three years, then for the next four years they were from various countries: Argentina, Colombia, Mexico, and the US. It was great to get used to each accent.

Personally, I would start putting spoonfuls in my tea, using honey instead of jam, maybe experimenting with baking…
