Absolutely hilarious in the most unintentional way.

At least the original had groundbreaking VFX at the time.
The new one looks great but it’s nothing new. I enjoyed it for the popcorn disaster movie it is and we can do much, much worst with those (looking a you Roland Emmerich you hack).
The link between conspiracies and ads is way stronger than that. The ad industry really went into high gear following WWII when the people working on pumping out propaganda to drive their own side of the war stepped up the game by applying psychology, new media, and a bigger budget.
Those people and techniques then moved to the commercial market when the war ended and applied their trade to peddle us the crap their customers wanted to sell. Make us feel bad if we don’t buy product X and go on an endless consumption treadmill to try to feel good and adequate about ourselves.
It is despicable and even worse with ads targeting children.
I’ll add Winter Soldier as well. Nice to have a bit of the paranoid spy genre into a Marvel movie.
The fatigue comes from boiling it down to a formula they kept repeating instead of allowing for talent to have their own voice.
Exactly. And I bet there’s plenty of money in mansions, cars, jewelry and bank assets.
Yep, if they need to disappear a CEO, no matter how big, they can and have done so in the past.
Where did you read that? They bailed to Monaco when the sentence was given over a family member in intensive care. But they have strong financial ties in Switzerland on top of the Swiss nationality.
Oh and they have to pay nearly a million to the victims.
Neo Nazis didn’t get The Dead Kennedys (a very left-leaning hardcore punk band). It motivated them to write a song titled “Nazi punks fuck off” (the lyrics just repeat the song’s title aggressively) in an attempt to pass the message into their thick, mostly empty skulls.
Both books written by Michael Crichton so very fitting.
Before he went full-on raging anti-climate change nut.
You didn’t miss much.
First rule of guns: don’t point it at anything/anyone you don’t intend to destroy.
He’s but a humble super man. Puts one boot after the other like any other.
Just be aware that “woke” is a very charged term. It has been hijacked by the alt-right to critique anything they say that’s going against their conservative values. It is so vague that even alt-right pundits fail to define what the word means. It basically translates to “I’m out of touch and I don’t like this”.
The word you might want to use instead is “pandering” which Hollywood (and mass media in general) has been doing it since forever. Basically it’s insincerely showing support for some values just for the money. Which Disney has and is very much doing here being. But the alt-right will throw that label on genuine actions and media simply because it goes against their worldview and it becomes very inconsistent (e…g, strong super-agent man fantasy fine, strong super-agent woman fantasy is “woke”).
I only saw a YouTuber make fun of their “Christopher Columbus did nothing wrong video” (not the actual title).
Their argumentation is terribly weak.
With allies like these, who needs enemies?
Because they fumbled it all so badly at every opportunity. Shady studio takeovers, disastrous launch, mismatched price…
What a damn shame
That would be the Top Gun movies.
Covenant was so brilliant it went with the “let’s kill off some of the protagonists offscreen” of Alien 3 again! Such a great movie to require watching a video on Youtube to understand that and just ignoring the path they were on in the previous movie.
His small role in Civil War was so creepy and memorable.
