That being said, it seemed as though they wanted to like it, which kinda cemented to me that it’s actually that bad 😂

I keep thinking I should look into this MrBeast drama, then I remember I just do not give a single fuck.

I went through a h3h3 phase when I was like 20, then realised that any YT drama is just toxic and it’s best to avoid it entirely.

I miss Tom Scott, just made quality videos with none of the BS. Nothing over the top, just interesting content from a genuine guy who cares about his audience.

That really seems to answer the question, and I don’t think you need to assume any discrimination from them.

They’re a small team, they need someone to come in and hit the ground running. They feel like you’d need training/support despite your technical knowledge.

Honestly, less than 7 on IMDB is bad.

Most average things fall between 7-8, 8+ is really good, 6 and lower is bad. So the colours actually do lineup with the score imo.

5 absolutely doesn’t mean average on IMDB. If something gets a 5 then it’s absolute dogshit.

In particular, the term “engineer” has been butchered beyond recognition.

If you don’t bother with white lies and think that goes down okay, then maybe the other person is pretending they’re okay with it when it does actually bother them.

So they’re then telling a white lie of their own to spare your feelings, or just because they want to move on from the subject.

I’m not in software development, but this is how the entire company I work for operates.

We’re just kinda going forward with no clear direction, keeping stuff ticking over and constantly coming up with future plans that never come to fruition.

I come from a society where the government doesn’t imprison people willy nilly.

And I will be avoiding the UAE like the plague, because our values about peoples freedom and rights are polar opposites.

It should be illegal and they should be punished, but the fine is ridiculous and 3 months of jail is disgusting.

In the UK you don’t treat someone like this for a single offense, where someone’s annoyed and has an outburst.
