heavyboots@lemmy.mlOPMto Tucson@lemmy.ml•Sabino Canyon would be up for sale if Trump's Senate appropriations bill passesEnglish1·22 days agoI don’t know, this is going to piss of a lot of hunters and other outdoor enthusiasts who tend to vote more conservatively too. At least worth writing your congress critters and spreading the word.
You assume I was for the 20 year genocidal war? Why? IMHO it was a huge fucking mistake too.

heavyboots@lemmy.mlto Technology@beehaw.org•Bluesky Is Plotting a Total Takeover of the Social InternetEnglish36·2 months agoWhat I don’t get is why anyone would ever choose commercial social media again given there are Activity Pub clones for practically everything now, where you aren’t the product. So many people learned nothing from the ongoing Twitter debacle and the zillion Facebook privacy scandals apparently.
heavyboots@lemmy.mlto Programmer Humor@programming.dev•The future of web development is AI. Get on or get left behind.English3·2 months agoIt is always hilarious and strange to see the buy-in on these things. We have a single coder in his late 60s that has bought in hard to spicy autocorrect. Meanwhile, the youngest on our team (like 22) won’t touch it with a 10 ft pole.
The other issue is just the morality of it. Do I know people that got rich on Bitcoin? Yes. Do I feel like they’re participating in a pyramid scheme still? Also yes. And with spicy autocorrect, where they got their training data for any and all of these models is so freaking morally bankrupt, and they’re desperate to paper over that and make it “ok” for businesses to use it.

Literally all we need is everyone to kick in a couple bucks a month and I think everything would be in great shape. I think the user base is like 65k+ users currently?
heavyboots@lemmy.mlto Firefox@lemmy.ml•Firefox could be doomed without Google search deal, says executiveEnglish1024·2 months agoThey need to get the fuck rid of that executive. Whoever has been running FF the last couple years has done a terrible job in picking directions for them to go, IMHO.

heavyboots@lemmy.mlto Technology@beehaw.org•Slate Truck is a $20,000 American-made electric pickup with no paint, no stereo, and no touchscreenEnglish3·3 months agoAh, cool! Well AC pretty much solves my hesitations here in AZ, lol. But I know a lot of northern states still might want AWD as an option.
heavyboots@lemmy.mlto Technology@beehaw.org•Slate Truck is a $20,000 American-made electric pickup with no paint, no stereo, and no touchscreenEnglish10·3 months agoMy two immediate concerns would be whether it comes with AC and is there an AWD option. Both of those could be deal breakers towards the borders. I guess they’re not absolute deal breakers (we bounced around AZ in a '71 Datsun pickup that had about the same specs as this a kid) but they certainly would be huge QOL improvements as options.
heavyboots@lemmy.mlto Technology@beehaw.org•Slate Truck is a $20,000 American-made electric pickup with no paint, no stereo, and no touchscreenEnglish5·3 months agoI think it will depend on if they have lots of USB power conveniently available. Like you could literally make your own stereo with two bluetooth speakers and a phone as long as there’s plenty of USB power and mounting points.
heavyboots@lemmy.mlto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Why do some drivers turn off the signal sound so quickly?English41·3 months agoIt exists because too many idiots turn it on, forget about it and then drive along for another 5 miles signalling a turn they’re never going to make and confusing everyone around them. Personally, I’d much rather someone signal for “too short” an amount of time than have this happen.
heavyboots@lemmy.mlto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Why do some drivers turn off the signal sound so quickly?English1·3 months agoAnd I think on some cars I’ve had in the past, it was only 2 times even.

Also, it’s an actual honest-to-god new feature worthy of a new version point vs a lot of stuff where I’m like, this is how you got to version eleventy two?

So good news: this item got procedurally removed.
Bad news? There’s so much other terrible stuff in the bill now, like basically destroying the solar industry via removing tax breaks for solar projects and apply taxes to any solar from China. Musk has been freaking out about this all day as gasp, it could actually affect his personal businesses.
