Partly true because you wrote the system is conserving resources where it really doesn’t. Most of the energy is transformed into non-conserving but destructive forces: GHGs, manure run-off, pollution. A whole lot of energy is used to grow the miserable animal and only a fraction of it is coming out in form of quickly perishable food.

It was addressing the amount of crops (therefore land use, therefore number of rodents dying on harvest). Again your paper states we could ramp up the production of calories from plants just for humans and could feed some billion more people.

You were by changing the subject from crops to crop calories without taking into account humans can grow calorie dense foods on relatively small space opposed to animal feed which needs a lot crops, land and produces a lot of plant waste and in addition is inefficient because only a fraction of calories come out of the slaughtered being compared to the initial calories in plants.
All that while we cull millions of feeling beings in the worst possible way right now because of H5N1 (add that to the polycrisis) waste enormous amounts of resources for little protein and calories and destroy nature.

55% + 9% = 64% = 2/3
So you’re correct with the 2/3 crop calories(!) if we count the 9% biofuel/industrial stuff with it.
But why is the following?

I’d suppose it’s because of this reasons: A. Pastures need a lot of space which for which often woods or rainforest are burned and biomes are destroyed. B. Probably the most eaten vegetable (potatoe) is very energy dense and has a lot less waste by-product and therefore needs a lot less space than animal feed like soy, wheat or corn.
This is everything I need to know from your paper to say that the system of animal agriculture is fucked, wasteful and destroys nature and our health (not only because of the pandemics it causes):

Edit: The latter is what the “Vegan Land Movement” is doing very successfully by rewilding pastures to wild lands again where a wide variety of wild life is finding a refugium now.

Nice. I started Ratchet & Clank on PCSX2 yesterday. Holy hell is that Emulator a work of art. The graphical options for the emu make that PS2 game still shine and the gameplay is lotsa fun. Sadly the libretro core for Retroarch/Emulationstation bugged out for me and was slow compared to standalone PCSX2.
Also I’m still puzzled how it’s possible there are so many retro-achievements for so many games. I looked up how to implement them and it’s really complicated. I totally underestimated how big the retro games scene still is. I really want to get into the netplay thing.

Where several parts of Iowas new law are violating federal child labour laws (e.g. Hazardous Occupations Orders) and that’s why those states are under federal investigation.
From Europe, I hope your gov keeps the promise of cracking down on migrant child labour in hazardous environment and other trends to return to pre-industrial times (e.g. caregivers who exploit the child labour) and offers those kids better possibilities. Those voters in Iowa, Nebraska and the likes are lost anyway.

Because it is factually wrong. I’m informing myself about that industry for many years now. I’m not an activist vegan (because where I live that doesn’t take place), but I follow many activists and have seen a lot of videos, so I know what’s going on.
Isn’t it torture to confine mother-sows for month on hard wooden planks in spaces they can’t move at all, laying in their feces and involuntary suffocating their own piglets.
Or breeding chickens that have to give 20-30 times more eggs than their ancestors which leads to calcium deficiency and lets their backbones break.

Shipping calves around the world in container ships in every weather condition without proper food and water supply, where a lot of them die and the ones surviving getting kosher butchered in Morocco?

It is day and night. Svelte is nearly vanilla JS/TS. No quirks and surprising side-effects like in React. No shadow DOM. With the new rune system in the next version it will even be better. For me it had the best DX of all frameworks I tried.
I suppose OP is frustrated because the business world hasn’t catched up and most of them still only search for React devs, which is in my opinion very stupid, because React can be so frustrating for devs. The reddit sub for svelte has ever so often posts by them praising the sanity of Svelte.
But it would be a valid point by OP if that is their reason when their income depends on it. We can only hope Svelte catches up in that regard.
I’m have done both, Spring Boot and Laravel on BE and Vue, Svelte and React on FE.
Don’t believe the FUD. Vue and Svelte are fun if you have a moderate understanding of HTML, JS/TS and CSS in your sleeve and those reactive frameworks are indefinitely better than vanilla JS or jQuery. React is another beast and I really didn’t like working with it.
Both Vue and Svelte have nice setup tools for NPM/PNMP (I’d recommend the latter) that create template applications in a few minutes which immediately run inside a local dev-server. Change some code and changes are immediately reflected inside the browser. It’s really a nice DX. And both frameworks have very nice ecosystems and GUI frameworks, e.g. VueUse or shadcn-svelte.
