It’s because describing a 56 percentage point increase as 56 percent increase implies a totally different result. A 56 percentage point increase on 10% is 66%. A 56 percent increase on 10% is 15.6%.

This piece seems premised on the idea that better campaign tactics would have won the race for a guy that resigned in disgrace and didn’t live in the city. Maybe the problem was just him and his shitty insider politics.

Of course there’s a market for food! And for drugs! And for literally just medicine! There are black markets during war. That’s why gangs raid trucks delivering free food rather than just waiting and taking their allocated share.

JFC, there have been reports of amputations being performed without painkillers and you guys are like “must be a devious plot to hook kids on oxy” rather than “yeah, I bet an opiate is a high-priority smuggling item”.

Or… you can just kill them. The Israelis aren’t subtle and don’t need Palestinians to be drug addicts to dehumanize them. They’re already calling them much worse.

This idea that it’s definitely not smuggling, something that happens everywhere for very mundane reasons and is instead a plan to leave some as drug addicts just doesn’t make sense.

Things that are “smoked” are destroyed by heat, that’s how the smoke happens. You don’t burn your drugs and then come back to eat the ashes, the good stuff is all gone by that point.

Implied in “smoke” is that the oxy is destroyed in the process. That’s how burning things works. They don’t light it and then eat the ashes.

The linked article shows an image of full pills discovered and just mentions powder as reported by other sources. Those that were in powder form (how would they even be able to recognize powdered oxy in flour?) could just be destroyed or poorly solidified pills.

The core question stands, how would mixing oxy with a thing that’s going to be baked be a viable plan? And why use oxy rather than something that is just a poison? There are so many more effective methods to kill an already vulnerable population than causing overdoses. And for the smuggling theory, there’s a whole lot of reason to smuggle oxy. It’s done all the time all over the world for abuse. And they’re critically short on medicine. Seems like a very straightforward plan and motivation there.

Gotta be smuggling. It seems unlikely oxy would survive baking.

Name a single protest taken over by an outside group. It’s not something that happens. Maybe some of the white supremacy groups whose presence alone requires people to reject them or be tainted by association, but nothing on the left. That’s not an actual problem on the left, much less one “on the left forever”.

My first protest was organized against the Iraq War, but in practice also contained more broadly anti-Bush protesters as well as groups promoting third parties, communism, and veganism. None of those were a problem or threatened to take over the protest in any way.

So something that doesn’t actually happen in the real world. No one gets to decide the one singular issue that defines a protest. There isn’t one.

Yeah, that one paragraph made this entire story worthless. We have gestapo kidnapping people and warfighters on the street facing down Americans. It’s no longer hyperbole to compare the times.

In one breath you’re saying protests have to be wide and in the next you’re complaining about groups with a specific interest joining.

I thought this was a headline inaccurately calling fascists in general MAGA, but no, they’re actually MAGA. The mind-numbing stupidity of the far right should not be underestimated.

Or even more general: Someone who’s popular will almost by definition be anti-establishment, because the establishment is often shit and someone who isn’t willing to say that won’t be authentic. Even non-leftist insurgent voices (David Hogg seems pretty mainstream progressive, for example) are immediately attacked, so an authentic speaker would never stay in their good graces.

.ml used to feel similar to .world in that it mostly indicated you just joined a pseudo-default, but it feels like it’s getting more ideological over time. The devs run two instances, .ml and lemmygrad, and lemmygrad was the explicitly Marxist instance, but since lemmygrad got defederated from some large instances it feels like some of those users might be moving to .ml so they can maintain access.

I wouldn’t worry too much about it impacting your experience or what people assume of you in the near term. It’s still generic enough that a .ml handle doesn’t automatically mean something. It’s more like a confirmation when someone is already posting some extreme things.

The someone he killed was himself. He blew himself up on a day that the area of the clinic nearest him wasn’t really in use and wherever the eggs are was not in range. He certainly could have killed someone, he just didn’t happen to.

This isn’t a religious question so your religious stance is irrelevant. You don’t need to both sides genocide.
