I get your goal, but denigrating them won’t work. They tried that with Donald Trump. They tried it with Alex Jones. Neither of these cases resulted in a smaller aufience for those two- instead they became the figureheads of their respective demographics, audiences swollen by those the Democrats (and traditional Republicans) dispossess and mock as being “too fringe”.

How involved does one need to be to be complicit?
We can probably agree that the local embassy security staff didn’t have a hand in these atrocities, but do the intelligence officers staffed there? The schmoozers working to ensure unwavering US support? The ambassador himself?
Keeping in mind everyone’s interpretation of complicity is different, I agree this probably wasn’t the best move available, but I won’t criticize it further than that.

Do they? As much as we like to play it quiet, the US exports a lot of food globally- China gets some $17b worth. Those tend to be perishable, so any hot war would have to be over quickly for China to come outahead, and any protracted war would see them need a new breadbasket eother domestic (reducing the industrial/military work pool), or international (which comes with the same risks they have now over US ties).
It sounds like Mr. Carville is happy enough ruling over a burnt-out husk, so long as he doesn’t have to do anything about it.
Is this to mean that state gov’ts and services will have to pick up the slack on nat’l parks, or is there no mixing of the two labor pools?
This just looks to me like a step towards “privatization” of these parks being paraded as a safety measure.
