A lot of people don’t realize how many times the problem they are solving has already been solved. But after being in the industry for 3 decades, very few things people are working on haven’t been done before. They just get put together in different combinations.

As for AI, I have found it decent at wruting one time scripts to gather information I need to make design decisions. And it’s a little quicker when I need to look up a syntax for a language or like a resource name for terraform. But even one off scripts I sometimes have to ask it if a while loop wouldn’t be better and such.

Fortunately, 90% of coding is not hard problems. We write the same crap over and over. How many different creat an account and signin flows do we really need. Yet there seem to be an infinite amount, and each with it’s own bugs.

Sadly, the lack of junior devs means my job is probably safe until I am ready to retire. I have mixed feelings about that. On the one hand, yeah for me. On the other sad for the new grads. And sad for software as a whole. But software truely sucks, and has only been enshitifying worse and worse. Could a shake up like this somehow help that? I don’t see how, but who knows.

I don’t think the majority of people are ignorant or apathetic. I haven’t met a single person who was either of those. Seems like everyone is pretty solidly on one side or the other. I think most simply feel powerless to do anything about it, which is very different than apathetic or ignorant. I suspect that was true in Germany back then as well. Due to a lack of access to open media, many probably felt they were one against 1000 or something.

You would be surprised how plentiful food is when there are no people eating it. Fishing with a spear would be easy. So as long as you can make a fire, you shouldn’t starve. But there would also be plenty of animals that would consider you food.

I play things like satisfactory, tf2, portal, doom stuff. But I am too old to play anything where reaction time really matters all that much. Like tf2 I only play mann vs machine now. My monitors are just 144hz. Nothing too fancy. Though I do have 2. And I forgot about VR. I want to get one, but I have no idea if linux supports them or how much the graphics card matters these days.

Rather than screaming that he should be arresting people, this footage should be used to wipe convictions off the record for other protesters who didn’t get similar treatment.

All in all. This is an example of how a cop “should” behave. Protecting the rights of ANY citizen to protest. There is no way to know from the video if this was just a good cop doing the job well, or if it was a cop who favors thier cause.

So if they are on different disks, does that keep windows from eating the linux bootloader? Also, do you use something other than UEFI to manage which OS boots? Seems like a lot of people just use UEFI if things are on different disks.

Books, podcasts, niche youtubers, video games. Jusy keep trying different subjects until you find something that interests you. Learning is usually a draw for a lot of people. You could also try volunteering in some way. Maybe that will be more fulfilling.

I was really surprised that didn’t cause major issues. I guess they all figure BS comes out of his mouth a lot. So maybe they are waiting for the second time to react. I dunno, not sure how he dodged that bullet.
