Either that or medication!
I abandoned hope long ago when I learned that excel was turing complete.
The darkness has already consumed me, there is no salvation from this sin.
Worse - pulling data from a web page, then using the power of pure jank to parse this input, and then invoking a sheet of reference string builders to construct formulae and execute them using too damn many @indirects nested into vlookups before finally adding in date aware data reveals, because no excel abomination is complete without trying to parse dates.
Or false regret, either or.
I’ve done things in excel that are an abomination in the eyes of the divine.
I have absolutely 0 regret.

Adding a little exercise to your life is rarely a bad thing, but to shift fat diet change is the big one.
Here’s one that will have a steady impact - drink an extra glass of water with each meal (helps you feel full for longer), and invest in an apple corer (for easy apple snacks) - aim for an apple a day. It’s helping me slowly lose body fat by reducing caloric intake.
One feels there is an allegory for “too stupid to be afraid” buried in here.

The magic spell that removes the woke mind virus, but only if used on the main twitter server as a high level admin user with full access.
It works and is a pile of jank - Python
It doesn’t work and is a pile of jank - C++
You violated gods laws with how bad your code is and it still runs (right through the wall) - C
It’s going to sound really silly but here goes:
-
Ensure their background is the same as it was (seriously, they often use it as an extra way to find things).
-
Where possible, use windows icons for desktop shortcuts and mask link names to match vocab they’re familiar with.
-
Have rustdesk set up with a link saying “Let <your name> help me”.
-
Make sure they have their password written down somewhere.

-
Where possible have background updating, where not possible have a .sh file to do it for them.
-
Add desktop links for things like downloads, documents and pictures.
These are tips for any distro when moving less tech savvy relatives over. For those that like to game, ensure your fs on their gaming drive is a Linux one as it stops weird behaviour. Also, you know, install the games for them!

HexesofVexes@lemmy.worldto Data Is Beautiful@lemmy.ml•Ideology gap increase between young men and women in various countries.109·9 months agoSo here’s the question - is the scale consistent over time? That is, do we consider the same ideas left/right wing in 202x as we did in 199x?
Let’s assume it is. We’re seeing men lean towards the center/right, and a lot of people are asking why. The trouble is, the answer isn’t one people like to hear - in our headlong pursuit of equity, we’re introducing a lot of inequality. You lift the ladies up, while you let the men climb - all based on the assumption that the women had further to climb so what you’re doing is levelling the field.
Countering this is a sympathetic voice, one offering to bring back equality or offer a different kind of equity. Casting gender equity as a zero sum game, and pushing for equality aimed at the ones not being lifted up.
I often hear the “uneducated men” argument, but that’s just an ugly echo from the past serving those it once oppressed in a bitter irony. The reality is that even educated people can fall for propaganda. Especially when voting in what they see as their own self interest.
