They’ve included people in their Thanksgiving plans for years. This is just the latest gimmick of theirs. They’ve even appeared on a Gameshow. And they’re not really making money off of this either. The price for those rooms is just $16 harkening back to 2016, the year of their accidental encounter.

Not sure how much that matters if you’re a writer working for a studio, but as an outsider looking in, that seems to be what made the difference for the WGA.
Also, this tentative deal would only last up to September of 2026 so either way this deal has an expiration date. Does that mean that studios can do whatever they want with their AI after this date? How much more advanced is AI going to get in these 3 years? Do writers now have a 3 year lifespan remanining?

Cynicivity@lemmy.worldto World News@lemmy.ml•New Covid wave has begun and masks should be worn again, scientists warn161·2 years agoSurveillance is an incredibly important tool in monitoring virus incidence and disease spread. Here is a summary of an article published in the National Library of Medicine that explains it in detail:
“Surveillance is a fundamental tool for public health, producing information to guide actions. Modern surveillance tends to follow health measures such as the incidence of a disease or syndrome or even the occurrence of health-related behaviors. There are many reasons for conducting surveillance, and the data collected and the approach taken to analyzing those data are both influenced by the overall goal of a surveillance system. Surveillance systems aims mainly at detection also provide information that may be useful for other purposes. The goal of detecting an outbreak of a newly emerging virus, places specific demands on the type of data collected and the types of analysis performed. All approaches to surveillance share some common principles. While some of the underlying methods used in public health surveillance have evolved considerably in recent years, the general approach to surveillance has remained relatively constant. At a fundamental level, surveillance aims to (1) identify individual cases, (2) detect population patterns in identified cases, and then (3) convey information to decision-makers about population health patterns.”

Most grasses are deficient in one or more vital nutrients that the cows need to grow. Most cows today are fed TMR (Total Mixed Rations). These are diets carefully mixed with different grasses, grains, hays, and mineral supplements. There are different metabolic diseases that cows can get when eating diets deficient in different nutrients. Cows that are sick don’t want to eat, and cows that don’t eat don’t grow. To a farmer, that’s like burning money.

A good reversal agent for Xylazine is Yohimbine, and I wonder if cops will start carrying it around since Xylazine is becoming a more popular drug in America. Consequently I wonder what the rising price of both drugs is going to do veterinary clinics across the country. This stuff isn’t cheap.
