So what you’re saying is there is a secret society of upright walking bear people?

Mangey upright walking black bears? There’s Pedals in New Jersey that seems to be thriving in some context.

While this study is interesting it isn’t that surprising. It’s been the most plausible explanation for Bigfoot sightings for decades. A bear standing on it’s hind legs does look fairly humanoid. Compound that with the likelihood that the animal is being obscured by foliage and the fact that the average person is terrible at accurately estimating size from a distance and it all makes sense.

      “Down where the Sasquatch hide
      In the misty mountainside
He’s got shiny diamonds that he’s got to protect
      Look into the Sasquatch eye
Then you’ll know that sass can fly
Sasquatch is my daddy and he’s going to protect me!”

I’ve always believed a lot of the sightings were either standing bears or raccoons in trees.

Bears can walk on their hind legs, but there would be no mistaking that for a primate gait.

Right, eyewitness testimony is definitely known for its accuracy, especially when it comes to the way someone is walking at 100 yards away. I mean you can just count on it.
