The US is still far ahead of the rest of the West. Whether they’re ahead of China is immaterial to US economic interests because the West is decoupling from China.
The west is doing a lot of talk about decoupling from China, however there is zero evidence of that actually happening.
I remember a few years ago there was an ammo shortage stateside because it turns out that all of the primers used in civillian ammo in the US come from China.
